what is a good cam for a stock motor., with a pipe filter and jet kit.
I would perfer a drop in.
Thanks

hotcams stage 1, its a direct drop in. You wont loose any bottom end, and youll get some good power with it.

A++ cam, get a hmf or sparks x-6 pipe, and either a uni or k*n filter depending on preferance. NO JET KIT!!! waste of money. just get an estimate of what jet you need and go from there. will save you lots!

what about stage 2
Oh, i already have a pipe, k&n, and jet kit

with stage 2 (which i believe is still the new stage 3) your gonna loose bottom end power, its mainly meant for a built engine, bigger bore and higher compression. Most of your power would then be in the topend i believe.

thats why thousands have been sold, and every one that was installed CORRECTLY gave a power increase?

well, if you know enough about carbs you dont need to waste like 50 on jets you will never use. get a jet that is close to what it should be and adjust from there.

Those jet kits are like 100 bucks not 50! Just get the kehien jet you need for 2 bucks! I hate dynojets.

I just recently did some work for my buddies 05 400ex i put a 165 main jet had the air fuel screw turned approx 3 1/2 from bottom the needle clip stayed the same an older stage 2 hot cam (now its the stage one) a uni air filter and a whitebrothers E2 slip-on pipe. this set up had some incredible gains over stock i took it for a ride sitting on the seat not leaning back at all went all the way to fourth on a wheelie if i would have leaned back could have went to fifth. he told me later that he was dusting z400s in the woods and staying in front a good deal when draging. i have to imagine u will have the same results the only thing is the 05 exs have bigger carbs than the older models so the jetting will need to be tweeked to get proper fuel and air into the older carb

well, if you knew enough about jets, you would know that the dynojet needle jet has a different taper, that is matched to the seat of the main jet. this provides better fuel atomization, resulting in better throttle response and more power
that kit is also good for people who ride at various altitudes.
