I defineatley know it is not the size of the engine the hmf pipe came with the bike. The first thing I bought was Front works shocks and a rebuilt rear shock. The new 450's have improved on handling and suspension that is why I am lookin at them also people are paaying less and less money for the 400's I love mine but I am only 14. Which means I can only work in the summer and very few weekends with my dad.but my parents are willing to help me but I want to buy it with my money I earned.

I am not a little punk that drag races up and down the road and just wants more speed because I know that the 3 things that are most important are

1. Practice and working on your quad
2. Suspension
3. Handling

anyways I didn;t ask you guys if I should get a 450 if you would please read the post again you would know that I am asking your opinion on how much you would pay for it and comments on the quad positive or negative

I would probably lose most of the stickers and maybe put on some stock graphics or a nice graphics kit and it would really look more appealing to potential buyers.

Posted by: trx400exxracer

When I got it it didn't come with graphics I am probably going to get a black gripper seat cover as for graphics I might just get some new stock graphics or get a not so flashy graphics kit just something tastefull that look appealing any recomendations

Posted by: trx400exxracer

you guys have any opinion on a graphics kit or anything else

Posted by: 440exnacsracer

where is eastman trx400exracer? im in school in statesboro, but i travel home to mcdonough every few weeks, if your somewhere close to either of those, we should meet up and go riding sometime. in a few weeks, me and the guys at the shop are going on a ride, not sure where yet though

Posted by: 250rAL

We paid $3500 for a bone stock `04 this summer.

Posted by: trx400exxracer

If you paid 3500 I could probably start at $4200 ro ssomething like that rite

Posted by: aviator4

Don't count on it.

You're probably not going to get the money you put into this 400 back out of it.

I hate to say it, but it still LOOKS stock.. so thats the price you're going to garner with it.

somewhere around $3500 is probably reasonable.

who cares about the looks it rides like a dream last time I checked people didn't judge the quads on their looks but how they ride

Posted by: aviator4

True, but looks are typically what will drag an audience to your quad.

Look, I'm not saying thats written in stone, you asked for opinions - thats my opinion. I've bought and sold a LOT of quads... this is what I've learned. People INITIALLY become interested in a bike based on LOOKS... a picture. No one can test ride a bike WHILE they are looking at an ad.

And as far as who cares? Well, at that price, MOST people will care. It's a toy, they want it to look good and be well maintained. They're not buying a compact car, they're not interested in the "practical" side of the bike (other than being mechanically sound). They want it to look good and ride good. If it doesn't LOOK like it's worth $7k you're not going to get $4K for it. at $4K you're not catering to the "bargain hunters" - those are the people that don't really care what a bike looks like. I'm not saying you're bike looks like crap. you're bike looks good. It's clean and appears to be well maintained - but other than the front shocks a slip-on exhaust and Razr's, it's practically stock.

AND, for $4K you can get a decked out '02 400EX. you can get a bike like yours thats an '02 for about $2500.

Thats my opinion. my $.02 whatever. I'm sorry you don't like it, but it's still my experienced opinion.

I am looking for opinions I didn't say I didn't like your opinion.

It is not practically stock I do have a Hmf slip on, front douglas wheel, razr tires, aftermarket handlebrs, handgaurds, grips, uni air filter, works shocks, revalved rear shock, jet kit, I also have a dg bumber to put on, etc.

I am about to get some more after market parts like black rear reinforced wheels and razr2 tires, and mabye some aftermarket nerfs, graphics, seat cover, powdercoating the frame and sub and some new plastic

some I deas on new colors and graphics and ideas on others parts would be appriciated

Posted by: trx400exxracer

anybody else have any Ideas

Posted by: TRXRacer1

aviator4 pretty much hit it. That quad has a stock look and looks sell. $3500 is a fair price, you can get a lot more quad then what you have for $4200. I'm not saying you couldn't get it but the buyer would have to be a sucker.

Posted by: rummerd

for a comparison, over the last year, I purchased 2 400EX's. One a 426 set up for MX with everything(I mean everthing! Long travel, Roll Axis, you name it) for 5500 and it is like brand new. Second one is 440, basically the same bike Duncan Racing is selling on thier sight for14,000. I got that one for 5000 from one of thier support riders. I consider both of those machines bargains as they will probably still hang with anything out there(not smoke or beat). The mods you have really are pretty nice, but are not gonna get you above 3000 to 3500 in my opinion.

Posted by: 250rAL

I wouldn't put any more $ into it if you're gonna sell it. More goodies won't bring a higher price. You're just throwing money away.
