what gearing are you running and what carb set up?

Posted by: 400ex4ever

We are running a 18/30 with a 24mm carb. The stock front is a 19 but the 2001 Scrambler 50 (I think its the right year) comes stock with an 18. Slides right into place.

we have stock front and a 38 rear. does the cvt change the way the gears work? i always thought for more top speed you went up on the rear teeth. i can seem to get much top end out of ours, she tops out at around 34

Pappy-I'm pretty sure if you go with less teeth on the rear you will gain top speed. Our stock polaris 90 tops out around 32-34mph.

yes i was wrong in my thinking.

installed a 32 tooth rear and its a solid mid 30's, probably more if i had the room to have him stay on the gas.

Did it take away from the bottom end power/accel. much?

Cool Video!!!! During my "inexpensive" Trail Mod upgrades, I wish we built a movie as well. In our movie, it would contain lots a crying from smashed knuckles (from slipped wrenches) and include my wife screaming with "are you done in the garage yet??!!! You do have a family too" moments. LOL!!!!

I like the way your mini sounds while zipping down the road. Cool sound. It actually sounds like a 2 stroke. We're still running the stock pipe. Can't afford this upgrade. If we drove our Pred-90 down our road, guaranteed a cop would knock on our door 10 minutes later. Another one of those "your neighbor has complained again" warnings.

In many ways, you and your family are very lucky in many different ways. Great video!!!!!

Thanks for sharing....

Yeah. I think I may pick something between 38 and 32 teeth. Ours could use a little more top speed so it can keep up better with the bigger quads in the woods. I'm curious to see what a little engine work will do with yours. Keep us updated.
