I've never used one before but the 400ex has one of the easiest clutch pulls out there.

a perch can make all the diference in the world when it comes to a clutch pull. A buddy of mine put a YZ clutch perch on his 400 when her eliminated the parking brake. it was a tough clutch, but he thought it was due to the heavy duty springs he had just installed. well we replace it the other day with one off another bike. you can pull it with one finger now with heavy springs. It is a $150 perch but it worked wonders for the clutch. My stock lever and perch is easy to pull with heavy springs. I would say that unless you already have an easy pull setup, get another perch and try that to help with your clutch.

i would def recommened getting an easy pull clutch for a 400ex it will help u last alot longer in races
id get the two finger clutch lever just b/c they are easier to pull

I was looking for a 2 finger lever and I can' find one for anything but the Raptor. Will that lever work with my stock perch or is it different? Thanks

ull have to get a new perch but if u do that it will work

i would not suggest the raptor. i had one on my ikd 300ex. the angle the cable comes into the perch allows the cable to rub the adjustment screw. i was replacing cables every three to four rides. i would suggest on from applies racing or wirtz. both of these are good perches and levers. i am getting ready to get teh applied for my 400.

the msr raptor is the name of the clutch perch not the model, i have on on my 400 and i like it. i got the shorty, 2 finger design, and i have had it on all season and havent went through any cables

i know it is not the model. It is an MSR perch and lever. The angle that the cable come into the lever at causes the cable to wear. It is worse when it is set on the easy pull notch.

Its a universal model. Thats just the name of the product. I had one on my R and it broke when I reinstalled a clutch cable. then I sent it back to MSR.. Got a new one and in one of the races my hand hit it and it snapped.. I will not pay for another one.. The metal is no good for hard riding conditions. By the way I had the shorty

I have had a couple different levers and perches and the RTC is the best one I have used. And it won't wear out the cable if you adjust it correctly. The adjuster has a notch the whole length of it to let the cable out.

I have been looking for some rtc levers i think they are made here in town does anyone know where to get them or how to contact them they used to have a website but i cant seem to find it thanks

I agree the MSR is not very good quality. It rubs the cable which causes it to fray, the ease of pull is not that great, and it is made from cheap metal (buddy of mine snapped his in a minor rollover). I have a few friends that have run them and I wasn't too impressed with them.

Better alternatives are the RTC clutch levers, ASV, Works Connection, and 909 AOF.

I have an ASV clutch lever, it is great and you can pull it in with one finger

im pretty sure the guy that make RTC levers sells on ebay. i think he gets 90 bucks for the clutch and brake ive been thinking about getting one as i really cant afford the hydro clutch setup
