my buddy has a 03 z400 it just started making a ticking noise. what noise does the timing chain make when it is bad? i think it is the valves need adjusted, but not sure about the chain. it is original. it has hot cams in it, runs great , just a slight tick

Does that make the valves knock real bad too, because mine did that and i just got my valves adjusted and it fixed it.

The timing chain makes a bad rattling noise when its not tight.. maybe check your timing chain tensioner... mine went out not to long ago and made a really bad ticking sound to
