Will 3 quarts of oil be enough for my 400ex? An I bought GN4 10w-40 thats what the guy told me to us but he said he didnt know how many quarts it would take.

Should take 'about' 2 quarts.

a complaete rebuild engine takes 2.2 quarts and oil change takes 1.89 quarts pour 2 quarts in and you'll be fine.

The manual says 1.95 but 2 usually does fine.

i use 2 3/4 quarts, but that's with my oversize oil tank

Two quarts. Use 20/50 weight. REPLACE THE CRUSH WASHERS!!!!!
