Posted by: force

Hey, just wondering if anyone on here ran the Lost Creek race yesterday?? and their thoughts. Thanks.

Posted by: Pappy

you wouldnt to have thier website would ya?

Posted by: yellowex26

i went to the race..but i stood in one section all day..and their website is www.midatlanticharescrambleseries.com

Posted by: yellowex26

the section i stood in you came out of the woods.. and it looked like a really shallow pond that had just been really rutted out and if you didnt hit it with any momentum you were screwed..i must have helped pull 20 bikes out of it.. and after that you had to go throught like a ravine it was hell..you went down this really steep probabaly 4 ft. bank..and as soon as your front tires hit the ground you had to get on the gas..i saw a V force roll on it every lap.. it didnt look like many people had trouble with it..mcgill and sturdivant were going through there like madmen..

Posted by: force

ah yes!! i remember that section of track very well!! amazingly, i never got stuck in the pond/swamp. My i-razr's hooked up great!! On one particular lap, sturdivant (sorry if i mispelled) passed me prior to the pond. I had my goggles pulled off.....so, i backed way off to let him get ahead (didn't have to back off too much, he's really fast. Not sure which one of the sturdivant's it was.). He was on the other side of the pond when I entered. And the mud was still hitting me!! I had to look straight down, and let the mud hit my visor. I couldn't believe how far it was flying!! lol. That was my first Mid-Atlantic Series race. Prior to that race, i was told that these tracks aren't as "rough" as GNCC's. Well, Lost Creek was pretty close!!!

Posted by: force

atvriders.com needs to have write ups on this series!! right now, it's small. i think there were 49 total quads. but, the guy that is running it, is trying to do it right. and, it's a fraction of the cost to run a GNCC.

Posted by: yellowex26

are you going to doddridge county this weekend?

Posted by: force

i wanted to, but don't think i can make it.
thinking about running the one after that.

Posted by: yellowex26

the next one is the wilderness..honestly..wilderness is my fav. track. I love it. Theres nothing real hard about it. There is one rocky section. But who knows they might put something good in it this time.

Posted by: force

do you race too?

Posted by: yellowex26

yeah..i dont race every race though..i dont have a job and its hard for me to come up with the money..im only 16

Posted by: force

that's one of the many reasons, i thought i'd give this series a shot. it's much cheaper than GNCC. Plus, all the races are relatively local!! I plan on racing the entire series next year. Hope the quad holds up!!

Posted by: yellowex26

yeah im in the process of tryin to afford everything that could help me race besides shocks and a-arms and that expensive crap..

Posted by: Teufel

Is the Wilderness the same track where they used to run the GNCC race.....I loved that place

Posted by: PowerMadd789XC

To the guy on the blaster, what size tires do you run on the back?
Were you the only blaster at Lost Creek? My brother was filming the race at various points on the track. You looked to be moving along pretty good on that thing.

Posted by: PowerMadd789XC

Yea, that was me at lost creek , im always the only blaster, i run 20x11-8 kenda klaw XC's on the rear, hey force what class do u run and what does look like and hvae done to it might have seen u before and whats ur name. well i hope to cya at the wilderness , ill be there for shore also whats ur name, later man cya

Posted by: yellowex26

Posted by: yellowex26

as long as nothin happens over the week to my bike, ill be there. Yes i have the cycra probends. They are white. I kinda hope the course is not the same layout. It was really rocky last time. It has never been that rocky before. Ohh and my name is Josh Dodd.

Posted by: yellowex26

I am really hoping i had as good of race as last time. Last race at Wilderness was my best race of the season.

Posted by: Teufel

Where is the Lost Creek track located...... I would be traveling from rt 68 to 79 at Morgantown?

Thanks

Posted by: force

go to www.midatlanticharescrambleseries.com

Posted by: yellowex26

Who's racing the buddy race? I think if i can get my friend to run the ironman with me i am going to run the ironman but if he doesn't i am going to run the race with my brother. He rides the red DVX 400 in C class.

Posted by: Teufel

I am hoping to make it but it will be a last minute decision. I haven't ran any races in this series but wanted to check it out for next season.

Posted by: yellowex26

It's a good series. It has nice tracks and everyting. The owner. Andy, is a real nice guy too.

Posted by: Teufel

Where is the Lost creek track with respect to Morgantown?

Posted by: yellowex26

i don't know exaclt where it is at.. im only 16 and i dont drive yet. I have only been to the lost creek track once.

Posted by: force

take I-79 south
probably 30 minutes or so, to lost creek exit.
not far from there.
the lost creek track is very, very tight
has a couple nasty rock sections.

Posted by: Teufel

Great Thanks !

Posted by: yellowex26

Wanna talk about rocky..I went up to HardRock today in fairmont..Went up with Josh Pyle (All Terrain RAcing Performance). That place is friggin rocky. Did about 3 laps and i was dead.

Posted by: Teufel

Is Hard Rock still open to the public ? I haven't been there since the last GNCC. I used to go there and ride when I was in college.

Do you still enter and park at the buildings where they play music?? I would like to make a road trip out there, any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

Posted by: force

hard rock has to be one of the roughest tracks i've ever ridden!!
it was nasty.
fun, but i don't really care for tracks that do nothing but tear things up......you know?

Posted by: yellowex26

yeah, you still ppark at the place that plays music.. the only real rough parts are at the beginning and the end, other than that its a good place to ride.

Posted by: Teufel

Is the riding area marked out well, from the way it sounds like there is a track established where I can get on and run laps ?????? I used to love the hill climbs, " Momma, Poppa, and Baby" as DC refered to them.

Posted by: yellowex26

Yeah, its marked up pretty good. The arrows are a little faded now but they are still visible. In one part of the track though, a tree fell and you have to turn around and cut up through the woods.

Posted by: yellowex26

Yeah i have only seen one guy climb them since i have been up there.. the person i saw climb it was Billy Prine of Prine's Powder Coating.

Posted by: Cannonball08

Did you see him climb it or did you hear he did? Very few have,
Bob Sloan and Barry Hawk to name some.

Posted by: Teufel

Yeah, Momma hill was a better option, also the majority of the spectators on that hill if you found yourself needing a little help. The baby hill was just too long and was a disadvantage unless you found there to be a major pile up on Momma.

Dave Coombs used to say that Hard Rock was the closest comparisson to Black Water than any of the other tracks.

If I remember correctly Stevie Holbert concured Popa hill

Does anyone hold any races there anymore??

Posted by: force

when i raced it, they did not have momma or poppa hill open......they said it was too muddy.

stevie holbert was fast........he was racing a highly modified 250x back then. they say that thing would run (or outrun) with the 250R's!! must have been a wicked machine.

my dad bought an 89 250R off of Steve's brother, Mike. Remember him?

Posted by: Teufel

Yes I remember Mike, Steve ran some wicked four strokes, he also had his time on the 250r. He ran the first 400ex at Hard Rock but hated it, as it was a basic stock set up, he quit after the first lap.

Posted by: yellowex26

yeah, i was there when he climbed it. He is a real good rider. And an awesome hill climber.

Posted by: Cannonball08

Yes I know, I have raced against him.

Posted by: yellowex26

Where do you race Cannonball?

Posted by: Cannonball08

I only raced once this year due to having a little girl. Last year I raced mid atlantic series ( don't really care for the way andy runs his races ). The year before that I run district 5 ( won PA state championship ). The year before that I run Koontz. Then for about 10 years befor that I raced MX on a dirt bike all over the place.

Posted by: yellowex26

Andy has good races but he runs too many of the same trakcs over and over. Next year, i think i might run the koontz series. From what i hear they are goin AMA and all.

Posted by: Cannonball08

That would be cool if koontz went D5. D5 is in need of a better HS series. The only thing andy and his series have going for him is his quad turn out. The reason he runs the same ones is because that is all he can get. He is not allowed to come back to taylor county ( the buckshot ) because of what he did there.

Posted by: Teufel

Personally I prefer the outlaw series, there are too much politics in the AMA sanctioned series. To add to that the District controls the schedule. Of course I am still hold a grudge since,IMO, in the 80's and 90's the AMA did little to nothing to promote quad racing, except of course take your annual membership fee. The couldn't give the Quad's even the slightest race coverage in their monthly magazine.......

Sure they have come online now that alot of the Govermental pressure is off and the sport continues to grow, so they can cash in..

My experience at most of the district races is that the Quads are an after thought.......kind o like "well while we are here we just as well let the quads race""""........JMO

Posted by: yellowex26

The quads are getting better attention now though. Well that is if your into cross country racing. If your a motocross fan, well you might as well forget about the 4-wheeleres all together.

Cannonball, i didnt go to the buckshot race, what did andy do there?

Posted by: force

yes, i am curious too.
he seems like a good guy to me.

Posted by: Cannonball08

He didn't pay the land owner like he was suppose to when he was suppose to. He had a hard time getting his money. It was also in the agreement that he would clean up the trash after each race. Well guess what, after the 4th race was over all the trash from the first race was still all over the pits. The land owner had to have his own people clean it up and it was a mess.
I know all of this because I live 1/4 of a mile from there and personally know the land owner.

One of the races at the buckshot there was a pile up in the first turn of the pro class. The guys that wrecked didn't have their quads turned over and ready by the time the A class was due to take off. Andy started yelling at the flagman to start the 10 seconds. When the flagman refused, Andy ran down the hill and took the flag out of his hand and yelled ten seconds and the race was off. This was very very dangerous, regardless if the race was suppose to take off or not.

Then at Dodridge last year he used his megaphone to yell and cuse at every quad racer on the line because a few of them went to the line early before the motorcycles were done and he said it cause one of them to wreck. Yeah he should of been mad, but should of been profesional enough to pick the ones out that were doing it and tell them about it.

last but not least, My cousin broke his back at the wilderness last year. Andy posted on his website that he was going to have a ATV poker run for him and that he was going to be fine. The poker run that was held for him had no support by Andy. Matter of a fact he was there for maybe an hour. As far as my cousin being fine. He is paralized from the waist down.

Im not saying he is a bad person and I not saying I wouldn't race one of his races again. You ask what he did and that was my answer. I have spent lots of entry fee money at outlaw races. I have raced lots of Mid Atlantic, Paul Koontz, Pyramid Valley, Reedville arenacross and Roaring Knob. Outlaw racing has lots of talent in the quad dept. I will have to say if you are looking at the MX bikes then AMA D5 all the way.

Posted by: yellowex26

Yeah, that is one of the stupidest things i've ever heard about the quads bein wrecked and he still started the race. I am sorry about your cousin, I was at that race and saw him wreck. I gathered up a bunch of buddies and went to that poker run for him.

Posted by: Teufel

Sorry to hear about your cousin's injury, I'll definitely throw one out there for him tonight

Posted by: Cannonball08

It sucks he had to get hurt that bad. He started racing with me 4 years ago. We had some pretty good road trips when me, him and Chris Wilfong were racing D5 every weekend. He lived to race, and for being only in his third year of racing he had already moved to A class.

Posted by: force

i am very sorry about your cousin as well. that really sucks. sounds like he had great potential.

can you tell me more about this outlaw series? is it XC? Where are the races held?

Posted by: Cannonball08

Which outlaw series are you refering to force?

Posted by: force

you mentioned outlaw races, and i'm not sure what you meant.
is that another term for XC?

Posted by: Cannonball08

The term "outlaw" is used for any race that is not a AMA sanctioned event. It can be a mx or xc. Koontz, mid atlantic, pyramid valley are all outlaw races.

Posted by: yellowex26

Did yu guys hear that the buddy race for this weekend was canceled?

Posted by: Teufel

No I haven't, I ran the GNCC, D7 and D5 as well as some of Paul Koontz's races. I raced some of Koontz's races this summer. Prior to that I haven't raced since 02 when I shattered my femur. It has been a long rehabilitation period, unfortunately I am not as young as I used to be. I love the sport and still like to get out and race in the woods. I plan to run a number of the Koontz series and the Mid-Atlantic in 06, that is as long as I can stay healthy.

Posted by: RAPTOR80RACR990

Is there anybody else racing the Doddridge County Buddy Race besides Cannonball08, myself, and my brother?

Posted by: RAPTOR80RACR990

Did anyone race the Doddridge Buddy Race?

anyone wreck on the hill climb out of the pits?

Posted by: PowerMadd789XC

Well, I dont know if anybody rolled down the hill because i was racing. But when i was there some guy on a orange KFX400 got stopped at the top of the hill!

Posted by: RAPTOR80RACR990

Is anybody here going to be racing the Mid-Atlatic Hare Scrambles for 2006 season?

Posted by: force

Posted by: RAPTOR80RACR990
