I might get this in a couple of days and was wondering if anyone wants to give a fellar some clues on what are the best things to do to it.Its an 88' with bout 1000miles on it.
Posted by: lil400exman
uhh does it even run man? we need more info on it my 300ex has more thn 1000 miles on it and its still doin fine
we need more info!

Looks like its in pretty ROUGH condition. THe seat is TORN up, and it looks like the front left fender has a hole in it.
Posted by: exman250
.Im getting a new fenders, seat, tires, piston,S.plug and,a bumper. What color should I get for the fenders? What kinda bumper, tires and piston should i get and what is the best pipe?Yes it runs.
Posted by: exman250
And one thing I forgot.I don't want a 1988 front fender so will a 2001 fit or will i have to custom mount?
Sorry bout the poorly written post on top.:square
Posted by: stocktires
It seems as thoug it would. If you want that quad you need to strip it to the bare frame and CLEAN and take al lthe rust off that bike. I wouldnt even trust to ride it! Must less JUMP it! If I were you I'd save up a lil more!
Posted by: stocktires
You can tell, Its not in "fixin up" condition man, someone really ragged that thing out!
Posted by: exman250
I think this bike is good for now.Im wanting to learn more about quads and how they function so this would be a great start.I will strip it down and buy parts off of eBay and then when I finish it I will put a pic up.The price is only $500 and the bike runs!Thats good enough 4 me.
Posted by: bman's 02 300ex
why would you want a warrior? thay are like 1000 lbs.. and slow as ..... thay are good for trail riding with the family but thay can't keep up with us. all of us EX riders laugh when someone on a warrior wheels in to ride with us. and not one person has one at our local race track .
yellow 2002 300EX
cobra[junk] pipe
k&n power up kit
durablue eliminator 2+2 axle
holeshots, itp offset rims
ac racing new style front bumper
ac racing wide grab bar
red fly racing bars, with 87 250x key holder
red DG steel nerf bar
sporting the #19
now it is time to build up the motor!!!!!!!!
Posted by: 440EX4me
Hey dont let them scare you out of it since it sund like you made up your mind anyway.
I have an 89 warrior and its a solid quad. Does everything a warrior does and is very reliable.
What you do want to think about is that even though you are paying 500.00 you still dont want to have dump say 1500.00 in it to get it right.
It looks like there is only a couple hundred (parts cost) worth to get it looking ok but you better be sure the motor is sound. It could easily cost you 3-4 times the price of the quad if you need some serious motor/ trans work.
I am not sure if its running or not by your post but if its not I would recomend that either pass on it or make the owner get it running and take it for a ride.
When I got mine(traded for some $$$ a friend owed me) its was rough but ran spot on (for a yami) I have around 600.00-800.00 in just basic stuff like brakes, bars, lights, bearings, cables, intake and clutch etc. And thats with a motor that was good (rebuilt by the prev owner)
So be careful you dont get into more than your able to handle.
Posted by:
My sugestion would be to set it on fire and roll it down a hill......Its a Yamaha Warrior.....My friend has a 2001 and they r slow as ****.....
:devil
Posted by: racin 400
How much would u sell it for?I will but a 250R motor and put some money in it and it will fly reply. I want it!!
Posted by: stocktires
a 250r motor wouldnt be a great Idea. The mounting would be a SERIOUS pain and the chassis couldnt handel the power.

Now thats just not smart, you may need some help.
Posted by: Zero Z400
If that only has a 1000 miles on it then those must have been a realy rough 1000 miles. The reason it has 1000 miles is becuase thats when it broke and if it does run it will probaly run like crap.
Later
Posted by: exman250
I am going tomorrow to look, ride, inspect, itand if it isnt what its put up to be i wont buy it.And one reason you guys say they are so slow is cuz you ride a 400ex or so.I have a Rancher now and I just want sumthing else.I really dont care if it is heavy cuz i am light and it wieghs much less than my Rancher.A friends of mine has a 2001 Warrior with a T-4 pipe on it with a K@N filter and it wasnt much different than the stock 400ex besideds the sound.AR
Posted by: stocktires
Dude, seriously, SAVE UP AND GET SOMETHING BETTER (OR MAYBE HONDA). Get a nice used 400ex or even a 300ex! You can get a nice 300ex for only like $2,200, mine costed 2,500 and it in very nice shape w/ a few mods when i bought it. Or a 400 for like $3,000. Or maybe try and find an old 250x in good condition for only like $1,200-2,000. As long as its a Honda. You will most probably be broke and dissapointed in the warrior unless all you do is trail ride 100% of the time (even then i wouldnt get one). Dont just buy it cuz you can and to have your own bike, make SURE its what you want!
Posted by: DEAL
Yeah man warriors suck, and one that beat up would be lucky to beat your Rancher.
Posted by: ATV_MAN
I would just woory about the engine.Everything else on it looks like a easy fix.Start it up and make sure its engines is ok. If the engine hasnt had any engine work done to it already i wouldnt bother opening it up to put some in it if its that old.
Posted by: exman250
I will look at it tomorow and make sure that everything works right.I will take a before and after picture of it and show you guys how wrong you are and beat all your 400exs HA huh
. Is it worth $500 or not.I would like to know how you shave a fender cuz the front is cracked.

..yammy basher's...
his money, he said he wanted something sportier than a utility bike, sounds like he's needs to cut corner's on the cost of what he get's.this sounds like a bike for him.
i'd get it, go over it about 3 time's with wisk. then strip it down and clean it even more. (your not making a show bike out of it) so i'd hit the frame with just regular spray paint. find a color close to whats on it now. and just hit it for looks. when the paint chip's the paint will be close to stock so you'll barley be able to tell..and you've coverd the rust..
(maybe check out how good the motor runs before you strip it..if it needs work..take it off...send it to the shop.clean and paint the frame....check your brake's and all that.
also while your stripping it, check ALL your bearings, axel, front wheels, (i'm not sure if the worriors have swingarm bearings) check em' anyway..does it have a plastic or metal gas tank?
if metal.take it off and either clean it or throw it away, and put on a plastic tank...(CLARK'S are pretty cheep) fuel filter, screen, hose's. change the brake fluid/pads if needed, sand that nasty rusty head pipe, THEN worry about your plastic, bumper's and all that cosmetic stuff...
check for cracks in the frame/swingarm/a-arms....
it;s a $500.00 quad man...i'd get it weather it ran or not. unless the motor was locked up..if it will turn over, buy it...could be anything, spark plug, fuel's dirty, not getting enugh air, looks like there could be a rats nest in the tail pipe too
hey if all else fail's......part that (female-dog) out over the internet...or sale it to that retarted kid down the street....
later....
oh yeah, after it's been cleaned and the motors runnin strong, you've changed EVERYTHING from fluids & filter's to bearing's & bushings pick out some NEW plastic, don't shave the old one's..start over....pick out some good '01 model plastic and turn a few heads...if she runns strong and looks good they'll never know the differance....
(when i first saw the pic, i thought it was a blaster).oops
Posted by: exman250
LOL a Blaster hehehehe thats good.I found some good stuff on eBay so thats where i will get my stuff. The guy says its running great but it looks like shi7 which it does.I AM GOING TO BUY THIS.
Posted by: loganB
worriers arent that bad at the track that I race ate there is two of them they can ceep up with one of the 300ex but there not a mach for the shees and the shees arent a mach for my 400ex.
I wouldent even try to fix that one up.
Posted by: hondaquadman
ill tell u what man i am fast on my 400 really fast but this piped shee gave me a run for my money today at my race. he got the holeshot by far and i had him in the cornesrs at the last jump on the 2 lap he crashed bad he was uncouncious and they took him out in a flat borde with him all taped down. they cut his **** off he was bad. i really hope he is ok but i am just sayen i have a pretty decent 4oo and he was fast
Posted by: Rollin20s
i'd buy it for 500, don't let them put you down
Posted by: stocktires
it's not that we we're puttin him down, its just we'd like to see him spend his money on a better quad and not waste his money.
Posted by: exman250
Well I havent looked at it yet b/c the guy works 16hrs a ady so its really hard to get ahold of him.I am calling tonight and hopefully I can get ahold of him.I am only fixin it up alttile bit to ride and look half decent.Im not planing on racing it and I dont wanna get a blaster b/c how cheap they are.

Enjoy the quad and when your rich pass on the 400 big bore and just buy yourself a better quad and keep the warrior as a spare for the extra person or the friend who's quad is never running.
The warriors tend to run forever as long as you dont totally neglect them.
Posted by: exman250
Good idea. Also here are some pics.
Posted by: exman250
Also I got a really sweet confederate flag for my seat which I havent put on yet.Im working on the front fender to make it look better till i get a new one and im puting decals on the back.Im trying to get a few small video clips of doughnuts and speed runs but thats later.
Posted by: "BLAHH"300!!
DANG DOGG, when i said hit it with some spray paint i didn't mean, throw paint can at it hard enugh for it to explod and paint everything. what are you thinkin'.
THE SHOCKS? WIRE'S? TIE RODS? what happend to the front plastic?
Posted by: 440EX4me
OK OK before you paint the mud flaps mail em out to me as there missing from mine.
Maybe just try a different color on the shocks and another for the tie rod etc.

Posted by: exman250
Dude thats how he painted it.I guess he liked blue or something. He cut off the front plastic.
Posted by: exman250
I want to know how to polish my some things on my bike to make it look better. What do you do and what do you use?
Posted by: Castor-426ex
dang thats alot of blue.....lmao
i take it you were in a hurry...wouldnt paint hurt the seals on the shocks? as if they arent shot already...no flame meant.....
Ill give it a B+ for originality
Posted by: exman250
Im not the dumbass who painted it!
Posted by: roostin_dale
Dang dude! You should have bought my warrior! Look at my sig for mods!
Posted by: roostin_dale
another pic with TT tires
Posted by: DEAL
Does it smoke alot?
Posted by: ridgewarrior440
hey if you take that warrior and fix it up with PIPE, FILTER, Ect. it will out run any 300ex with the same mods,,,,that is if you can ride. the only thing you have to warrior bout is 400ex's you wont have a chanceunless you do motor work. but stock for a warrior is just as good and probley better 300ex.
if 300ex's are so much more better why is the WARRIOR the number 1 selling sport atv of all time.
i had an 88 warrior and it waz great the only reason i sold it was i needed sone cash and now i am probley going to buy anuther one only newer and may built it to be 400ex's worst nightmare that is after she gets a 446 stroker from 4-stroke tech........,,,but that if if i don't get a 400ex instead .
but i would reallly like to have warrior to bet everything else because i kinda like being the underdog but only when other people think i am the underdogg but i'm really not:devil

First off, get a rebel flag mounted on the back. Then, crank it up and drive it off in the deepest creek you can find and video tape you doing it. Keep riding it and see if you can ride it out, if you cant, and if it stalls, ohh well!! Hey who knows, maby you can change the oil a few times and stand it up on its back and let the water drain out of it and it might run again. Ha, then do it again...!
I wish I had an old quad, I would definatly do this! That would be so fun cuz you wouldnt have to worry about tearing it up! Who knows, it might even pull through with no problems at all!
Quad_Freak14, thats a pretty sweet lookin' ride, but I still wouldnt have it...
Posted by: DEAL
I raced a 370 warrior yesterday and KILLED it!
Posted by: exman250
I have all ready took it in some deep mud and it got stuck after about 20ft.Im getting a DMC pipe,20in Holeshots, waiting for my new front fender, have a confederate flag seat cover,AC front bumper and then im selling to get a Yamaha Kodiak with a snorkle.Call me crazy but 4x4s in 4ft of mud is better than driveing a sport quad around at 50+mph.
