can a yz400 with a crank or piston be turned into a 450 are they basically the same motors, and will it bolt into a yfz quad frame.

The YZ450 engine will bolt into the YFZ frame, the only modification that you will have to make is to the front sprocket, you will need to put a spacer behind it for the chain to line perfect.

They all bolt up the same, but I know internally the 400f is a different motor in a good many of ways compared to the 426f, and especially the 450f.

yzf450 and yfz450 are not the same. you need different motor mounts, and have to mod the frame

wow, news to me. So do all the bike motors mount up the same, and just the quad motor is different?

Have any of you guys heard of the YZ450F Motor in a 400EX frame, I heard it works!
