1. where do you read the color for the spark-plug? on the the end where the spark gap is or on the ceramic?

2. Does popping/backfiring indicate rich or lean?

I pulled my plug and it was coal black on the spark gap end and white on the ceramic, my quad is choking/cutting out around 1/2 to 3/4 trottle. does this mean rich main jet?

170 main, 45 pilot, NCVQ needle on 3rd clip, DR.D full exhuast no spark or quite core, pro designs pro flow kit with foam filter

3500 above sea, dry desert
