New Berlin, NY - ATV MX racing headed North to Unadilla for Round #11 of the ATVA GNC MX Series. The Unadilla MX track has been a long time favorite Outdoor Motorcycle National Track, but this is a first time that ATVs have been allowed on the National Track at Unadilla, and the exciting news of this historic event spread quickly with an impressive 751 riders signing up to race.

Posted by: Admin

The natural terrain track at Unadilla contained numerous unique features with the "Sky Shot" capturing everyone’s attention as the top riders launched over the jump reaching distances close to the 150’ mark on the side of the hill.

Posted by: Admin

The track also had several other unique features Including "Gravity Cavity", "the Wall", and "Screw U"

"Screw U" was almost a vertical dropoff and climb of about 150 feet which only the Pro and Pro Am riders were even allowed to conquer during the race, and they used every bit off horsepower climbing up hill side as you can see by the roost.

Posted by: Admin

With so many elevation changes on the track, you would expect the parking, vendors row, and the Pro Pits to be on the side of a hill as well like other Natonal locations, but not at Unadilla.

The Pro Pits, vendor row, and all the parking was on level ground and there was plenty of parking space available on both sides of the road for racers and spectators and it was level, which is a plus if you drive to a races with a camper, trailer, or motorhome.

Posted by: Admin

The Pro Pits were stretched along a road and two rows deep to accommodate the large rigs.

John Natalie Jr wrapped up the National Championship at Daniel Boone with his Overall Win, so he put the #1 plate on his practice machine to celebrate his accomplishment, but don't worry, John plans on keeping his #13 number plate for good luck.

Posted by: Admin

After winning the Championship, Honda invited John out to Oregon to film an upcoming commercial and everything was going fine until he high sided a berm and wrecked leaving him with a torn muscle and some serious bruising, but he wasn’t going to let it stop him from competing at Unadilla in hopes of breaking Doug Gust single season win record of eight in 2004

ATVriders.com finally has shirts for the ladies and I will be announcing purchasing details in the very near future, and Michelle Reiser was kind enough to model the shirt.

Nacs Racing, Jim and Shirley nacarato continue their son's(Darren) legacy by supporting his passion, ATV racing.

The buzz about the debut ATV National at Unadilla spread beyond the USA borders to riders in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada who made the trip to the US to either race or be apart of this exciting event.

European, John Mitchell, made the trip from Scottland for the oppurtunity to compete in the Pro and ProAm Class, and test his skills against the best in the World.

John Mitchell has finished in 2nd Place the last few years in the British Quad Motocross Championship behind Paul Winrow, and won the Pont De Vaux last year with teammate Doug Eichner.

Posted by: Admin

UK racing legend, Richard Cole, also made the trip from Europe to race at Unadilla in the 40+ Class, which would be his first time racing since 2001. After finishing 3rd Pont De Vaux in 2001, he was involved in a car accident on his way home, which ended his Pro racing career.

He hasn't let it stop him from being actively involved in the sport as he now has a training academy in the UK

Posted by: Admin

Phil Cole not only loaned his Honda 450R to Richard Cole, but he also kept it clean between Motos.

Posted by: Admin

Australian Pro,Luke Beechey, made the trip to the US to compete at Unadilla, but he decided to play it safe and test his skills in the 4 Stroke B and Production B where finished 2nd and 3rd.

Luke will remain in the US for Loretta Lynn's to see if he can capture a win before heading back to Australia.

Posted by: Admin

3 Time Canadian Champion, Richard Pelchat, also made the trip to the US to compete in both the Pro and ProAm Class.

Posted by: Admin

Todd Macke journey to Unadilla didn't start in a foreign country, but his story is just as important as he sought the help of fellow racers to finance his trip to New York from Illinois.

With the support of the following people/companies, Todd Macke will be attending the final two rounds of the GNC Series.
John Natalie Jr
Glenn Howell
Jackie Hessy
Tom Stone
ATP Engines
IC Racing
Reiser Racing

Unfortunately, Todd didn’t qualify for the main event with 35 entries in the 25+ Class, but he still had a blast atleast giving it his best shot and was very thankful for those who stepped up to help him.

Pro Qualifiers
The Pro Class had 24 Entries this weekend, which meant that four riders weren't going to make the Big Show on Sunday.

The Top 10 Pro Riders automatically advance to the Main Event on Sunday, so the remaining 14 riders competed in the qualifier and last chance qualifier for the final 10 spots.

Pro Qualifier Gate List:
Gil Attix
Joe Haavisto
Jeremy Lawson
Harold Goodman
Tavis Cain
Jason Luburgh
Jason Dunkelberger
Richard Pelchat
Matt White
John Mitchell
Trent Kandel
Donald Lamborn
Donald Lysinger
Chad Wienen

With so much at stake, the start of the Pro Qualifier was anything but smooth with Jason Luburgh waving his hands in the air for a two minute delay, but his request was ignored and he was left sitting on the gate when it was dropped with the rest of the Pro class taking off for the 1st turn without him.

Posted by: Admin

Duncan Racing, Tavis Cain, powered his YFZ450 through the first turn with the Holeshot with Richard Pelchat challenging him for the lead early, but Harold Goodman and Gilbert Attix were able to move past Richard in behind Tavis Cain.

Posted by: Admin

Tavis Cain lead the Qualifier from start to finish to secure his spot in the Main Event with only the top 8 riders advancing to the Main in the qualifer with the final six heading to the LCQ

Posted by: Admin

Harold Goodman held down the 2nd Spot by the end of the 1st lap, but incredibly, Jason Luburgh was able to charge his way up to 3rd Place behind Goodman after making his move on both Jeremy Lawson and Gil Attix.

Posted by: Admin

Luburgh went on to pass Goodman to finish in second place with Goodman finishing behind in third ahead of Lawson, Haavisto, Attix, Dunkelberger, and White rounded out the final advancement spots to the Main.

Posted by: Admin

Canadian, Richard Pelchat, just missed qualifying finishing in 9th Place, so he would be heading to the LCQ

Posted by: Admin

Scotland Native, John Mitchell, also was headed to the LCQ with his 12th place finish.

Posted by: Admin

Trent Kandel's Pro Debut didn't go the way he had wished with him wrecking in Qualifier

Posted by: Admin

Pro Last Chance Qualifier

The start of the LCQ started out much smoother than the Qualifer with Chad Weinen and Richard Pelchat battling for the Holeshot with Mitchell, Lamborn, and Lysinger in chase.

Posted by: Admin

Things got crazy in the second turn when Lysinger drifted into Mitchell, which sent Mitchell flying off the side of his quad and into the path of Lamborn.

Luckily, Lamborn was able to avoid running over Mitchell as he rolled off the track over the berm. He jumped to his feet and ran over to seperate his quad from Lysingers, so the pair could resume the race, but with only two advancing their chances were slim with Weinen and Pelchat running away from the trio.

Posted by: Admin

Chad Wienen was able to qualify for his 3rd consecutive Pro National since turning Pro at High Point with the LCQ win over the Richard Pelchat claiming the final Qualifying spot in second place.

Posted by: Admin

For Donald Lysinger, his 4th place finish behind Donald Lamborn meant he would be watching the Main Event for the first time this season

Also, John Mitchell wouldn't get his opportunity to compete in Main Event either, but he finished 3rd in the Pro Am Production Class on Saturday and advanced to the Moto Two on Sunday where his bad luck continued when an electrical connector came apart leaving him sitting on the track and finishing 13th and 10th Overall.

LCQ Results
1. Chad Wienen
2. Richard Pelchat
3. Donald Lamborn
4. Donald Lysinger
5. John Mitchell

With his #1 Plate, John Natalie Jr put on a great show for the camera men as he tamed the Unadilla track aboard his Honda 450R.

Posted by: Admin

#2 Jeremiah Jones headed out for practice with a wirelessJones Cam mounted to helmet to capture some footage for Suzuki.

Posted by: Admin

#30 Travis Spader took to practice on his new Yamaha YFZ450 after riding the LTZ400 for the past two rounds after he was left quadless when an arrangement fell through for him with Steel City Yamaha, but he is now back on blue with the help of Steel City once again.

Posted by: Admin

#53 Kory Ellis(Yamaha/Alba Action) had a busy week ahead of him as he would be flying back to California after the National for the Press Intro of the new 06 Yamaha YFZ450, and ATVriders.com along with Pro rider, #8 Jason Luburgh will be flying out to California on Thursday to see how those 80 changes to the new revised YFZ450 really work, so check back for all the details next week.

Canadian Pro Champion, #46 Richard Pelchat(Splash'n Dirt/Yamaha) captured the final qualifying position into the Main Event, and he also finished 6th in the Pro Am Production Class

Posted by: Admin

With the conclusion of Practice, it wasn't long till it was almost 12:00, and the fans began to flock to the hillsides to view all the racing action.

Posted by: Admin

Amongst the crowd was racing legend, Jimmy White, and New Zealand Champion, Ian Ffitch(Ffitch Racing).

Posted by: Admin

Also, Martin Lamoureux, made the 5 hour trip down from Canada to check out the racing action and meet with his Pro & Amateur Riders.

Posted by: Admin

Wes Miller was filming the past few days in the PA and NJ area, so he headed up to Unadilla to capture some footage for his upcoming movie.

Posted by: Admin

The 2005 Rock Maple West Snocross Pro Champion, Kenny Murphy, made the short trip down to Unadilla from his home in Constantia, NY to show everyone what a stock Bombardier snowmobile can do on the dirt by launching it out of "Gravity Cavity" before the Pro Moto 1.

Posted by: Admin

Kenny wasted no time launching his sled over 100 feet through the air without hesitation, and the crowd went wild with excitement.

Posted by: Admin

He launched out of "Gravity Cavity" twice before he needed to pit for some icing to keep his snowmobile from overheating

Posted by: Admin

On his final attempt, he landed hard with the flat landing, and his snowmobile was finished for the day. It was hoped taht he would attempt the "SkyShot", but he had to leave before beginning of the Moto 2.

Pro Moto One

#7 Joe Byrd lined up on the starting gate hoping to continue his Holeshot streak he started at Daniel Boone after never capture the Holeshot prior in his entire Pro Career

Posted by: Admin

Warren, PA resident, #32 Matt White(Hetrick Racing) isn't always in the spotlight, but he has quietly qualified for every Main Event this year.

Posted by: Admin

#161 Jeremy Lawson(JPMX) made his Pro racing debut at High Point along with Chad Weinen, and his first race was his best with a 15th place finish at High Point. At Daniel Boone, he ran into problems and didn't finish a Moto which sent him back to 19th, so he was hoping for some better luck this weekend.

Posted by: Admin

This Photo of Joe Byrd and John Natalie Jr in the background reminded me of the battle these two had for the win at Daniel Boone

Posted by: Admin

It was amazing to see how well Natalie Jr was riding considering the huge bruise on his arm and torn muscle, which might have kept many watching instead of racing.

Posted by: Admin

#55 Doug Gust(Team Suzuki/Yoshimura) continues to race in pain after his wreck at High Point, which sent him to the hospital for evaluation. His team manager, Wayne Hinson, would like to see “Digger Doug” take a break from racing to allow his body to heal up, but Doug doesn’t want to throw away his season with him still in contention to finish in 2nd Place behind John Natalie Jr, but he will need to stay ahead of both Jeremiah Jones & Tim Farr to do it.

Posted by: Admin

#4 Tim Farr(Team Honda/Baldwin) looked to be fully recovered from his wreck at Daniel Boone which prevented him from competing in the 2nd Moto, but just one week later, he went on to Win the Birch Creek Extreme Dirt Track Pro Race.

The saying "what Wins on Sunday, sells on Monday" looks to be catching on among the Pro Riders because Tim Farr made the switch to the Fox Racing Shocks this weekend instead of running his PEP suspension.

PEP's Wayne Mooradian was on hand for the race, so there was no secret that he was testing out the Fox Suspension

Posted by: Admin

#6 Tavis Cain(Duncan Racing) dropped out of the top 10 Overall at Round 10 when #199 Pat Brown(K&K ATV) just missed the podium with his 4th place finish for the 2nd consecutive year at Daniel Boone, which forced Tavis to Pro Qualifier where he easily took the win.

Posted by: Admin

#191 Dustin Wimmer(East Coast ATV) earned his 2nd Podium apperance of the season Daniel Boone edging out Brown, and for the 1st Moto he would be wearing the Jones Cam, and the footage will be available on ATVriders.com tomorrow if all goes as planned.

Posted by: Admin

John Pellan also equipped Kory Ellis with a Jones Cam for the 1st Moto as well.

Posted by: Admin

With all the riders back from there sight lap, the start of the 1st Moto was about to begin.

Posted by: Admin

#30 Travis Spader got the early jump out of the gate with his Steel City Yamaha.

Posted by: Admin

By Turn One, #13 John Natalie Jr had out powered the field with his Sparks Honda and took over the lead after Spader’s TC engine catapulted him to the front earlier, but he remained hot on throttle going into turn one and drifted to the outside, which opened the door for Natalie Jr with #7 Joe Byrd and #2 Jeremiah Jones moving in behind Natalie Jr

Posted by: Admin

Spader never let off the gas and was able to use his momentum through the turn to quickly move back in behind Natalie ahead of Jones and Byrd with Gust in Chase.

Posted by: Admin

Unfortunately for Kory Ellis, started near the pack of the pack ahead of Brown and Pelchat

Posted by: Admin

John Natalie remained in the lead as he launches out of “Gravity Cavity” with Travis Spader close behind on his Yamaha.

Posted by: Admin

Jones and Byrd took flight out of the cavity battling for the third spot with Dunk, Little, Gust, Wimmer, Luburgh, and Cain rounding out the Top 10

Posted by: Admin

Jeremy Lawson dropped to the back of the pack as Kory Ellis moved into 16th Place

Posted by: Admin

The first three laps, the Top 10 Overall reamained the same with John Natalie Jr holding onto the lead.

Lap 3 Standings
1. John Natalie Jr
2. Travis Spader
3. Jeremiah Jones
4. Joe Byrd
5. Jason Dunkelberger
6. Keith Little
7. Doug Gust
8. Dustin Wimmer
9. Jason Luburgh
10. Tavis Cain

Posted by: Admin

Farr held down the 11th spot and was apply the pressure to Cain in 10th

Posted by: Admin

#75 Joe Haavisto dropped back to 13th after the hard charging Ellis made the pass to work his way up to 12th place behind Farr.

Posted by: Admin

By lap 5 (HalfWay Point), the Top 10 continued to remain the same expect for Farr taking over the 10th spot after passing Cain with Ellis and Haavisto forming a train behind the pair.

Posted by: Admin

The racing action was fairly boring through the beginning of the eight laps and 17 minutes of the race with Natalie Jr maintaining a comfortable lead over Travis Spader and the remaining Top 10 riders remaining fairly consistent with only Tim Farr taking the place of Tavis Cain in the 10th spot

Posted by: Admin

in the final 2.5 laps, things quickly changed and the racing action became as intense as ever with Kory Ellis moving in to challenge Tim Farr for the 10th spot and securing it before the end of the 8th lap.

Posted by: Admin

By the ninth lap, Jeremiah Jones began to experience some issue with his Suzuki which allowed Travis Spader to begin to pull away from Jones in 3rd Place.

Posted by: Admin

Joe Byrd was able to capitalize on the slowing Jones and make the pass to move into 3rd place

Posted by: Admin

#19 Jason Dunkelberger(Lost Creek Cycle) dropped back to 6th Place after #12 Keith Little(Lonestar Racing) was able to make the pass.

Posted by: Admin

In the final lap, disaster struck for John Natalie Jr as his Honda shut off on him and wouldn't restart, so he jumped off trying to find out the failure and quickly reached for the coil, but it was fine, so after 9 laps of hard racing, Natalie Jr signaled for the pit crew to tow him back to the pits, which gave Spader the lead.

Posted by: Admin

#30 Travis Spader would hang onto the lead in the final lap and take the 1st Moto win, which was a huge confidence boost after a string of mishaps going back to Red Bud when he neglected to register to race and was disqualified when he was in the top 5 in points.

Posted by: Admin

Joe Byrd crossed the checkered flag with a 2nd place finish ahead of the Jeremiah Jones in 3rd

Posted by: Admin

4th Place went to Keith Little

Posted by: Admin

Dunk was able to hold onto the 5th Spot

Posted by: Admin

Dustin Wimmer and Kory Ellis were both able to pass Doug Gust on the final lap with Wimmer finishing 6th and Ellis putting in an incredible performance moving up from 17th to 7th place

Posted by: Admin

Doug Gust held on to finish 8th ahead of Jason Luburgh and Tim Farr rounding out the Top 10.

Posted by: Admin

#46 Richard Plechat finished in 16th with #32 Matt White making the early pass to finish 14th ahead of Joe Haavisto.

Posted by: Admin

#152 Chad Weinen finished 17th

Posted by: Admin

#309 Gil Attix limped his Honda accross the finish line with a broken Axle to finish 18th

Posted by: Admin

John Natalie Jr kept his sense of humor as he was told back to the pits to find out that his ground wire was the cause of the engine stall.

Posted by: Admin

#199 Pat Brown also needed to be towed in after his YFZ quit on him in the last lap, which ended being from a plug disconnecting during the race.

Posted by: Admin

The Robinson Family, Track Owner's, kept the track watered throughout the weekend and did a great job at keeping things moving along throughout the weekened.

Now thats a Water Truck

Several GNCC racers made the trip to New York to check out the Unadilla facility, and with the GNCC race scheduled at Unadilla on September 24, 2005, it wasn't a bad idea.

Moto Two

#199 Pat Brown's mechanic, Tony Kellner, fixed his electrical issue between motos, and Pat Brown with his sponsor Shawn Kirby, K&K ATV, headed to the line for the start of the 2nd Moto.

Posted by: Admin

#46 Richard Pelchat was looking to improve upon his 16th Place finish in the 1st Moto.

Posted by: Admin

#12 Keith Little shaded himself from the Hot Afternoon Sun before heading out for his Sight lap.

Posted by: Admin

#30 Travis Spader had his mind set on the Podium after winning the 1st Moto

Posted by: Admin

#75 Joe Haavisto headed out for his sight lap like a man on mission.

Posted by: Admin

#309 Gil Attix replaced his broken axle between motos and almost wrecked while practicing his start for the 2nd Moto when he hit a kicker bumper which sent him out of control and almost into the banners, but he held on and regained control.

Posted by: Admin

#53 Kory Ellis returned from his Sight lap eyeing up the starting gate, and probably wishing that he could atleast be in the top five heading into turn one because he has the speed to run up front, but starting near the back and working his way up isn't easy.

Kory Ellis was testing out some new ITP SX tires in the rear for the 2nd Moto, and ATVriders.com will be releasing more details on these new tires shortly along with the matching Front SX tires from ITP Tires

Posted by: Admin

With the 20 Pro Riders on the Starting Gate, and the card turned sideways, the 2nd Moto was about to begin.

Posted by: Admin

The intial start had Jones, Byrd, Farr, and Natalie getting the early jump out of the gate.

Posted by: Admin

#7 Joe Byrd was able to put his Honda out front once again in heated battle for the lead with #2 Jeremiah Jones on the inside.

#4 Tim Farr moved infront of #13 John Natalie Jr and #19 Jason Dunkelberger was off to another great start.

Posted by: Admin

by the 2nd turn, Jeremiah Jones was able to take over the lead with Byrd dropping in behind him in 2nd place.

Travis Spader was running in the top 10 before flipping over heading into the turn before dropping into "Gravity Cavity" which sent him to the back of the pack and ruined his chances of a podium finish without a miracle.

Unfortunately, #75 Joe Haavisto would also run into some bad luck on the 1st lap and replace Travis Spader at the back of the pack.

Posted by: Admin

The Completion of lap One had Jeremiah Jones out front with Joe Byrd close behind in 2nd Place.

Posted by: Admin

Dunk held the 3rd Spot, but had Natalie shadowing him as they finished the lap looking to make his move.

Posted by: Admin

Farr was up to 6th Place behind Luburgh.

Posted by: Admin

Pro Rookie, #161 Jeremy Lawson, held the 7th spot holding off Brown, Gust, Ellis, and Goodman.

Posted by: Admin

Halfway through the 2nd lap, Natalie Jr goes down in the valley in from the breaking bumps.

Posted by: Admin

With Natalie Jr back to last place, #8 Jason Luburgh moves up to 4th place behind Dunk

Posted by: Admin

Pat Brown jumps up to 6th place behind Farr with Gust, Ellis, and Goodman also pasing Lawson in the 2nd lap and each picking up two positions.

Posted by: Admin

Harold Goodman begins to feel the pressure from Keith Little as he looks to recover from a poor start as he moves past both Wimmer and Attix to take over the 11th spot behind Goodman

Posted by: Admin

#6 Tavis Cain was back to 14th Place ahead of Pelchat, White, Weinen, Spader, Haavisto, and Natalie Jr.

Posted by: Admin

Spader didn't show any signs of giving up as he carved the corner trying to work his way up one position at a time.

Posted by: Admin

By lap 5, Halfway Point, Jeremiah Jones had pulled away from Joe Byrd in 2nd Place and the Top 5 remained the same.

Top 5 - Halfway Point
1. Jeremiah Jones
2. Joe Byrd
3. Jason Dunkelberger
4. Jason Luburgh
5. Tim Farr

Posted by: Admin

By the 6th lap, #53 Kory Ellis had worked his way up to 6th place behind Tim Farr and once again as able to make the pass and take over the 5th place position as Ellis again made working his way through the pack look easy as he moved up from a 10th place start.

Jason Luburgh looks back over this shoulder over the “Sky Shot” to see Ellis moving in behind him.

Posted by: Admin

With two laps to go, Jeremiah Jones continues to lead and on his way to his first Overall win of the season as he launches off "The Wall"

Posted by: Admin

Joe Byrd remained in second place and was well on his way to his third consecutive podium appearance.

Posted by: Admin

The final podium spot belonged to Jason Dunkelberger as long as he could keep it going the last two laps, but when Jason Luburgh made the pass on Dunk and Ellis quickly followed him to pass Dunk, his podium chances were quickly fading.

Posted by: Admin

Ellis now up to 4th place began to set his sights on Luburgh in 3rd.

Posted by: Admin

Jason Dunkelberger was back to 5th with Tim Farr Applying the pressure.

Posted by: Admin

#55 Doug Gust remained in mix behind the battle between Jason Dunkelberger and Tim Farr.

Posted by: Admin

Joe Byrd holds on to finish in 2nd Place and Claim 2nd Overall on the Podium.

I thought it was awesome also when I heard about all the people helping Todd out . I seen him at the races and he had a huge smile on his face .

Ive read every coverage thread and never replyed and told u how much i appreciate it especially all the results cause im friends with vairous b and a class riders that follow the nationals and Harlen did Donny Lysinger have any mechanical troubles because i talked to him a week before Unadilla and he said it was 1 of his best races.

very nice job

i heard the track was seriously under groomed. 750 riders with 3 practices, and all the moto's. and the track was'nt touched, other than wet down. it was way rough. not what i would expect from a national.

one thing I did notice on the clip of the race was it looked VERY challenging

dry and ROUGH!

Well i can say that i did my fair share of complaining over the weekend about the rough track but it makes it challenging IMO i found it pretty fun but at the same time hated it...They didnt completly blow of the track maitnence cause they just push some of the dirt over the real bad turns. It really didnt do anything but at least they did something....Idk why everyone *****ed so much i thought sothwick was way worse last year

where is the amatuer coverage? im pissed it aint up yet the only national i go to there is no amateur coverage.
