I did the same thing but put my key on my front fender near the reverse switch and i liked it untill i got new plastic

looks good, it should be there from factory, way more convienent(sp?) i did the same thing a while ago, except i put the key on the opposite side as the reverse knob on the left side of the front fender.

very clean, and it looks great. i just used a zip tie to hold my warning light to my handlebars, and for my key i tucked it under my hood and leave it on all the time, i use my tether cord as my key now. but i dont think you could to this to a z because its electric start.
