dont worry, it is called "wear", happened to mine too, chain, bearings, a-arms, etc. , so dont worry, like fox racing and honda maniac said, juts keep on fixing it, it wont be as bad, unless it is beat to death.

For real man! Almost everything in my motor has been replaced. Theres a brand new Wiesco Heavy-Duty Crank and Rod Kit (so a whole new crank!!), New crank bearings, recently-new timing chain, new Ross 426 11:1 piston, Hotcam Stage 1, ported/polished head, new piston rings, brand new GT Thunder H-D Headstuds, recently new valves, recently new springs, recently new timing chain tensioner...I don't think there's much else that can go wrong in the motor!

The clutch is the next thing to go out...and I already feel it slipping...

Brand new axle bearings, 1 new linkage bearing (the rest we're fine), brand new swingarm bearings and collars, new rear brake pads (fronts need replaced), and on and on and on...

Oh well...

Clutch plates, axle bearings, brake pads, brake calipers, fuses, spark plugs, oil filter, clutch cables, throttle cables

It all sucks.. but its part of the great sport of ATVing! lol im just scared of my rings or something serious in my motor to go out! (knock on wood)

that's the great thing about having an 05 model

i know what you're saying tho, i had a 99 400ex before this. i had some probs with the head studs, and i had to cut out the swingarm bolt, timing chain, linkage bearings, steering stem bearing, new carrier, and a few other things. but i guess it wasn't too bad, for being an older bike

Posted by: vinson581

so far soo good with my 400, but i replaced a boat load of stuff on it with aftermarket.... now my truck.....so far piece of shat.. i have replaced everything minus the motor, but now its sick. just gotta finish up the 4x4 hubs errr

Sounds like it is overall, just worn out. Time to get something newer, and better!

Sounds like your ready for a complete winter rebuild. I've replaced everything to be replaced once or more, and this winter I think all new bearings will be put in again. Right now she's torn down because three gears went out and took out the oil pump as well...

400's for the most part should be extremely reliable however ones with a lot of motorwork will tend to give you problems

Posted by: enduro400rider

yeah i break **** all the time. i havent riden in over 2 months, since the retard who sold me my bike didnt tell me about the motor. i have replaced almost every weak part on my 400. luckily i decided to start studying the manual so i can do the work my self and save alot of cash. i bought my 400 of a the 2nd owner the 1st owner raced XC so i guess i was just askin for a beat bike. o well its pretty good now that i have it almost all rebuilt but im sellin it and buyin a more stock bike

ive heard people say things about the yfz like the motor blows and there unreliable and stuff so i wonderin if you ever had much problems with yours? im hopin to get a 450 within the next year or so and im more of a yfz fan but im wonderin if they really do have that many problems?

and ya ive to had to replace the head gasket, clutch, clutch cable, fuses, brake pads in my 400 and its finally runnin good (knock on wood). but i guess it is 4 years old so what do ya expect
