What do you guys think. I polished both of my DG nerfs and my renthal bars. It only took me like 1/2 an hour to 45 minutes to do it. I used 150 grit sand paper for a rough finish, then some steal wall to smooth everything out, and finaly Mothers mag polish. On the renthall bars all i did was use the polish since i couldn't get in there really well with sand paper.

what are you nerfs made of? aluminum? I was woundering if I could polish my ac racing nerfs
Posted by: Foxrage
Ya you can Nausty.
I tried to do thay but didnt work becuse my nerfs were alredy lookin like they were sanded by like 60 grit from ridin in the woods. im going to try to smooth out all those scratches and see how they shine.

Nausty, if you havent scratched **** out of your nerfs yet, you will only have to sand around the corners of them. I polished my nerfs, but it only worked on the sides, front, and back of the pegs...

..D.G. front bumper
.........grab bar
.........nerfs
.........pipe.
i sanded and polished all of em' even the pipe
(haha i got carried away)...i used an electric sander..took all the parts off my bike, came inside and watched looney toons while i sanded everything. didn't take long with a sander. started with a ruff grit papper and worked my way down...i didn't use any mother's or any other type of polish on em' couse you know first ride they go back dull...and yeah, they've already gone back dull, i did it sometime this winter....i'll do it again one day...
Posted by: JustRace
My nerfs won't come off. Even with some extreme persuation they wouldn't come off.
Posted by: Nausty
I might try the nerfs this weekend depending on how bored I get and if I go anywhere because i'm gonna have to get all the mud off and I would rather just take them off in the winter and sand them and polish them rather then find out I need to sand it after I polish. but today I polished the front brake resivour cover and throttle cover. That air craft stipper kicks @$$

take a car buffer and mothers, you can buff them. its easier than sandin them.

everyone must get one of those black & decker mouses
mice
you know what i am talking about, those mouse sanders.the kit comes with a few diferent grit pads and a few polishing pads.they will save you hours of rubbing and sore fingers.they also come with a fine brillo type pad that makes aluminum shine like chrome without even polishing it with liquid or paste polish.it was the best tool i ever bought.i have used it for many other things around the house too.
Posted by: Foxrage
Wow I am going to have to go get me one of those. Then my whole quad will be shiny. Im out of school now i will have something to do.

HEY NAUSTY! YOUR RIGHT THAT AIR CRAFT SRIPPER WORKS GREAT IT WAS ABOUT THE ONLY THING THAT REALLY STRIPPED THE COATING OFF MY HEAT SHEILD-- GOOD >>>I STILL HAD TO DO ALL THE SANDING TO SMOOTH OUT THE STRETCH MARKS IN THE BENDS AND THOSE HOLES SUCK TOO BUT IT WAS WORTH IT!!! LOL!!!
LATER GUYS!!!!! AND I THINK THE B&D MOUSE WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA!!:devil

Posted by: gojk
I just use the Air Die Grinder with a thin wire brush type end. It polished everything up nice and quick.
Posted by: Foxrage
Has anyone polished the headpipe? If you have can you tell me how and how long it lasted. Thanks
Posted by: brian400ex
Yes i did. I used steel wool and mothers metal polish. It will last a little while, but you will need to do it again. Makes a huge difference in looks!
Posted by: racin 400

Hey Just race, I have the same problem as you.... I have those DG nerfs, and they were installed on the bike when I bought it. I tried to take them off once, and they will not budge. The connector in the front, the one that crosses throughth e frame in front of the motor are rusted together so bad I may have to cut them off if I ever want to take them off. Nice bars too, I have the same ones, polished by mothers and all....
Posted by: JustRace
Yeah it really sucks. They're going to come off one way or another
Posted by: "BLAHH"300!!
..someone was talking about that rusty cross bar on the d.g. nerf's....un-bolt em' from the peg's on each side.
stand on em' (where they were mounted) to get em' to go down a bit, then pick up on em'.stand on em' again, pick up on em'. they'll break loose sooner or later. once you get em' off, paint that little bar. if you can't get that rusty bar outa there, tape around the end's on your nerf bar's and paint em'. thats what i did...that little bar on mine is white
so are my peg's, motor mount's, rear hubs, rear sprokett, and you know the stock stearing stem has a little flat peice on the top,(where the bar's mount) that's white too.,
