well after two years of saving up, i finnally have enough money to buy a 450! and screw yamaha! im getting the 450r! im so fed up with my raptor and blaster and yamaha quality in general... there quads arent and never were built well...

so im making the move to honda

we should be picking it up sometime early this upcoming week! i cant wait!

i have a question though... is there anything i should watch out for? im kinda new to the honda side of things so i havent kept up on my 450r news, is there any known problems with the 05 450r? or for any year model for that fact... i know my raptor had a tranny recall in 01, did the 450 ever have anything recalled? or something that went wrong?

There are a few things to watch out for. First, do not give it any throttle when starting. Also put lock-tight on the heat shield screws and kick starter bolt. You also might want to lube up the a-arm, swingarm and other bushings and bearings. Mine were not lubed very good from the factory. Have fun.

only big prob is with in the first 10 hrs on the crank bearings...if you get past that your in like flyn

any precautions to avoid that pesky bearing problem? and for oils, whats the best too use? and i saw that unlike my raptor, you have to places that need oil, the engine side, and clutch part, what oil should i use for them?

and why should i never hold the throttle and kick?

I would wait if I were you also. There is a reason Honda hasn't released the 06' R, even though the change's may be minor. You never know what they'll come up with. Beside's its less than 2 months. My brother and I are both waiting to buy 06's. Have fun if you do decide to get it though.

Wait for the 06. Youll be kicking yourself in 2 months when everybody on their 06s are smoking you. Then you will have to spend a bunch of $ to try to get your 05 to hang with an 06. Be patient!

i noticed your from PA, were are u buying yours from?
im from PA also and I went down to Berkeley Springs West Virginia to get mine. down there they are $5799 out the door unil the end of the month.
The only thing is no sales tax.
Up here they wanted one for $7499.
its not that far down there from carlisle PA

yah! i cant wait! i got mine in red,

im not really concerend with electric start in a race quad, so i dont care about the 06, and if it has a faster motor, i dont care, because im gonna be building up a full race motor by the end of winter

My honda dealer told me that when the 06 450r's were released that you would either be pissed that you have a 04 or 05 and not an 06 , or you would be happy that you have a 04/05 instead of an 06. Which to me seems that the 06's will have e-start. The dealer also said that the 06 might come stock with the HRC kit which would make it faster stock ofcourse. But if that's all that it gets i would rather keep my 05.

This may sound stupid, but you should buy the 06 because of resale value. When you go to sell it some day it will be a year newer. That is going to make it worth more. Regardless of what everybodyelse is saying, estart is will make it worth more down the road.

the 06' if it has estart will also cost more...i bet at least $400 or more
