300ex reverse mod?

Ok, the clutch on my 330 is really stiff, so I bought a new clutch cable, to hopefully help reduce the pull because mine is kinda old. Now I am thinking about getting an ez pull clutch lever, and that would make it so that I would have to chain the reverse ummm, thingey on the side of the case, in the engage position so that I will still be able to use reverse. SO, will this mod hurt anything or will I be fine?

I used a 2 stroke exhaust spring to replace the reverse cable on the right side of the engine. The only downside is that it will start in reverse with or without pulling the clutch in. I have had mine that way for close to a year with no problems. You'll also need to cut and splice the 2 wires on the lever together otherwise you'll have to put in neutral to start it.

do it...it`s save you alot of trouble and it will not hurt the engine in anyway... and don`t worry you can`t go in reverse in gear you still have to be in neurtal...trust me we tryed

I just ziptied mine on, been on there for 3 years.

Ok, I ordered the ez pull, and I'm going to do this mod. I'll probablly just zip tie it like lil300exkid said to do. Thanks everybody!

No. You'll still need your starter button.

If you were planning to use the kill switch as a start button then yes it will work. I didn't notice you already have a tether kill switch.

o. so all i'll have to do, ios splice those to wires form the reverse lever, then use a pipe spring and hold that cable in place?

Yep. Then you can remove the reverse cable completely and use any clutch lever you want.

this is confusing! i want to do the same thing!, can someone post some pics? preferably of the zip tie way

instead of splicng it, can i just cut the coating of the wires off and wrap them together, then cover them with electrical tape? I dont have ne splices right now and dont ahve time to run to the hardware store. And it seems easier this way, thanks.

Yes you can, thats what I did.
