I was looking into getting a 400ex and i found one for sale, all i know is it is a 440ex with dg exaust. There are other things on it but i will find out later. I was wondering if there are know problems of 1999 400ex's. I heard their 2nd gear goes out?

I have a '99 and I think the only difference between it and the newer ones is the crank. You jus cant expect it to be like a brand new bike cause its old and has probably been rode a lot. If its a good deal go for it.

It really depends what all it has done to it and how good of shape its in. ive some from 2000-2600.

Ask the guy if he replaced the stock head studs since he put the 440 kit in because if he didn't you may have problems with blown head gaskets.
