I am wanting to buy the CRF cam, but am wondering which year i should buy, are there a differance between the years? which one is best? where is the power at if they are differant?

thanks!

The 02 works the best and that is the same cam as the Sparks woods cam!

I run the 02 crf cam. I am very pleased with it, but I race XC. I like it because of the low end power. I just depends on what type of riding you plan on doing.

I race XC, i heard it was an improvement in power everywhere over the stock cam, but yet not as top end as the stage 2, so i think that may be more what im looking for

how much low end does it add. I am setting my quad up for mx, but I have always lugged my bikes and usually ride a gear high. I am asking because I have the stock cam out of my 02 CRF sitting in the garage and if its better than stock that sucker is getting installed in a hurry! Thanks

its far better then stock

does it have the same amount of top end or does it lose some? I don't want to lose any top, I just want to gain some bottom.

i heard the biggest gain is bottom-mid and the top end is still slightly improved

I had this one taken out of my 02 crf this spring when I had a stage 1 hotcam put in the motor! Now I am glad I kept it. It has been used is that going to matter? It only has 80 hours on it.

great thanks for the input!

I run one of these in my 450r. It has a great bottom-mid range pull. The top end felt alittle weaker then my old HRC but it still pulled really hard in the high rpms.

no that 1 isnt the crf, ur talking about like the X2 cam or whatever it is, the CRF is like his aggressive cam, and the X2 is like the race cam or whatever

Posted by: mikes450r

yep thats it...

Posted by: motox450

I don't want anymore top end for mine. I don't hit the rev limiter at all, but I don't want to lose what top I have. If i had the cash I would probably get a stage 2 HC, but I have my 02 crf cam in my hand now and its free. So I can't beat that deal!

Yeah it really pulls off the line! Works really well with my high compression piston, valves, and ported head! Great cam for both mx and xc.

kilabanshee how does your crf cam work with you piston, and head work. What was the biggest difference with your hrc and crf cams.

It works really good! With both the Crf cam and my 13.1 JE piston " both bottomend-midrange motor mods" it pulls like crazy from the bottom to top. My porting and valve job gave me alot nicer hit on the top end. This is the fastest production "450cc" motor I've ridden on. Most was already said about the difference in the cams. The crf cam has tons of bottom-midrange pull. For me it pulls just as hard on top because the cam works nicely with my top end port job. The hrc cam really didn't do anything for me. It actuly robs your motor of static compession. This is why people are able to run 93 octane with the hrc cam and 13.1 piston. With the new crf cam my compression was restored giving me the insane bottom-top end hit I wanted.
