Well was just wondering who is getting ready for the 6 Hour race in PA, July 16th? I just got done putting on a set of Trail Techs MR16 HIDs on our TRX. WOW They sure are Bright. Still waiting for the 8" HID to get here. I will post a pic once it is all put together. I also have to do some repair work to the TRX after the last GNCC race.
I would like to thank my sponsors for their help getting the Quad ready for the race.
Dave Crouse
Huston Motor Express
Monterey Inn
Duncan Motorsports
Swains Decals
And my Crew!
Michele, Kirstie, Tyler, Ron, Dave, Dana, Kim, Ronnie, Robbie
Thanks again for the support and help!
If you are running the race, Please list what class you will be running in.
IRONMAN

Is it being held at Rausch Creek again this year?
Posted by: SwainRacing
Yes it is there again this year.

does anyone know wht you need to do about being inthis race? Is it AMA or what? can anyone show up and race?
Posted by: tprender
The race will not be AMA/ATVA, but you will have to get a Fast Track card for $5. Just about anybody can come and ride. All that you have to do is read the rules and figure out what class is best for you and sign-up.

Can anyone tell me about what to expect, what to bring, what i should run on my quad... anything that will get me ready for this race, im only use to racing motocross for little amounts of time so i dont know what to expect, and altogether how much will it cost, signups at the track? Thanks to whoever answers all my questions!

the best set up is mx setup. wide bike, xc tires 20 rears, 22 in fronts. large gas tank if you have one, it helps but you don t have to have. and the more lights the better. stock lights will work but but a few extra s on it will work better. and sign up is at the track. i think it s pro , a,b,c ,vet and utility.

Extra lights are a must. My team used stock lights last year and it succkkked. Way too easy to overdrive them.
I'd also think about lots of spare tires, extra clutch and brake levers, plenty of fuel, plenty of extra gloves and goggles with tear offs.
Last year we had overheating problems b/c of the mud. A power washer would have been sweet.
Battery powered impact gun for tire changes.
Camel backs.
Extra lights and flashlights for your pit when it gets dark.

I've been gettin ready...... I'm running XC width, wide would help but I' got XC width so thats what I'm using...
the Rausch 6 hour track is fast!! theres a few tips you an think of to help your machine last...like gearing to get the top end up and cut down on the revs.....in turn keeping it runnin cooler!!!
I think I'm runnin my YFZ with 2 friends in Pro or A...? but I may still end up pulling the Ironman class???? Its seems like i'm the only one puttin any effort into it, so I may just do it myself?
Polish up on the MX skilz too.......theres a few nice doubles and a double double..not to mention the infamous Rausch step up!!!! I like that jump, even for an XC guy!!

I think that you need to add one more very important thing. A nice "soft" chair to sit in when it is not your turn to be on the quad.
Posted by: SwainRacing
I guess I will only need that soft chair after the end of the 6 hours! LOL
Yes extra lights or better than stock is much better than just the stock lighting. Spare tires and wheels another good idea! Lots of water, gloves, goggles, even extra riding gear if you are running teams. Never know how muddy you may get!
See you all there in 2 weeks!

what are the racing hours? i believe the other 6hr events were all held during daylight hours??? is the entry fee still $120???
Posted by: jlhughes750
120 PER TEAM
40 FOR IRONMAN
as far as i know its still a night race, starting @5pm
Posted by: tprender
This is the only one that starts at 5 PM. The rest start at 11 AM.
Posted by: SwainRacing
Yes this is the only 6hour one that runs into night. I wish all of them would run in to the night. The 12 hour one also runs into the night.

Well I am just about ready for the 6 Hour Race now. NOT! Still dont have the new A-Arm or the wiring harness for the light, but here is the set up so far. Sorry the pic is blury, it was getting dark out.
Posted by: cdrookie
i'm feeling better about my chances now that i see you're racing with only 1 front shock! or is that the hot setup
just messing
Posted by: SwainRacing
That is Elkas new set up! If you look real close you can see the other new way to ride is with out any foot pegs too!
Posted by: cdrookie
WOW! thats taking weight reduction to the extreme! for even better performance i'll take those heavy lights off your hands...i won't even mention the improved aerodynamic benefits
Posted by: jlhughes750
Cmon who else is going???????????????
Its almost here!!!!!!

Posted by: BlasterBTW
I'll be there. Unfortunately I couldn't find anyone who wanted to put a team together and race, so I'll be helping out in the pits. I'll be wearing a yellow CAT hat, so if you see me come say hi! Good luck to everyone and see ya there!

ex kid - I would run it with you in a second! But unfortunatley I don't have a quad.
Also I talked to Mike at Rausch, and I'm going to be a "sweeper"! I'll be on a red prairie towing all you guys that wreck or blow up!

See you guys there!

whats the story with the track?
Is it at a new location this year? I remeber that rumor floating around.
Who knows what the weather is gonna be like?
Muddy? rocky? dusty? All of the above?
Does anyone know if there will be water available there? Any water, pond water, to fill our 55 gallon drum for the power washer?
Posted by: cdrookie
still at the mx/atv park like last year
there's a pond there
suppose to be in the mid 80's hot and humid with thunderstorms possible
mx track will probably get dusty if it doesn't rain, but they'll most likely throw some water on it if it gets real bad. doubt it'll be real muddy unless it downpours on saturday. and i'm sure there will be a tight, technical, woods section with some rocks...
