Nope, supercharger.

ok why would it make a whitslting sound in 5 gear

Posted by: DvxDirtSlinger

its the factory "NOS" kickin in

Posted by: Speedy81304

its the drive pump. normal sound on the honda. the sound is from the oil being pushed through a pump, kinda like a tourqeconverter on a car.

It must be your powerband. I'll tell you what, them ranchers have 1 mean powerband

Posted by: Patman250

it is probably the drive shaft making a whirling noise. it i normal.

Yes its a turbo. All hondas come stock with it usually around the 4th or 5th powerband I mean gear.

Maybe it's the jet engine changing powerbands

Posted by: Punk'd

Its the drive shaft

yes quads can have turbos!

Posted by: 400exc

heck, i wish i could buy one, not enought money to get one and install it, ill just stick with easier things, im too lazy to do that crap

but yea, ranchers have a mean powerband, but no turbo, srry honda aint gonna put that much in there atv's. and dont worry adam, it aint gonna beat ur 400

he is one step above those people that say they ride quads, but dont know what they ride. then they want to argue that they can ride better, darn rednecks

lol turbo

Posted by: Travis712

When I rode a Rancher I noticed the sound you were talking about.

Turbo LMAO.

WOOOOSHHHH!!! WHAT THE HELLO WAS THAT!!!?

Oh that was just the new 06 Rancher with TURBO!

WEEEE hah.

We all have dreams

I herd that when it makes that noise you need to upgrade your tail light fluid to high output and get pink powerbands, then it will be able to break the sound barrier.

That sound you hear is most likely the muffler bearings rattling when the the quad enters the 4th successive powerband. This is due to the increased resonating frequency caused by the power curve. Take it to honda and ask them to perform a routine maintenance on the muffler bearings, and explain what is happening when it enters the 4th powerband, they will take care of it right quick.
