First off, Let me say nice board, this place has given me a welath of information. That being said, I recently picked up a 91 250x from a friend for around 800$. The thing runs pretty good, but needs some minor maintainance (bearings, brake block plate, things like that).

I want to start upgrading it, but im a bit of a newbie with quads. First off, I want to put a 400EX carb on it. My question is, can I just bolt it up and leave the 400EX jets? Will i have to buy a jet kit, and if so, what do you guys run. The bike is stock with a uni filter.

Im sure I will have more to come, but i just wanted tog et that out, and get the first post over with, lol.

Thanks Guys,

vRR

Well, whne I had my stock 300ex(basicly the same thing),I was gonig to d othe saem thing, but they said with a stock engine it will hurt more than help.Your better off getting a pipe first. But yeh,it will bolt up and need to be jetted you your quads spefications. So you should get different sizes and see what works best. But yeh get a pipe.

Hey, thanks for all the help... Ill go somewhere else.

the stock 400ex carb is too big for a stock 250x. get a pipe, air filter and a big bore kit and it should do pretty good. on an unported 330 w/ full exhaust, air filter i used all the stock 400ex jets, but went to a 160 main

Thank-You, that was just what I was looking for

no prob. it will work with a stock motor, but you will loose alot of low end. it will scream on top tho, but i think you would loose to much low end to make it worth it
