The live coverage just rocked so now I’m going to hook you up with some visuals for this 8th round of the 2005 ATVA ITP Moose Grand National Championship Motocross Series taking place at Muddy Creek in Blountville, Tennessee. Here is a panoramic view of the track. Yet again my photo-stitching doing a so-so job.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

The fans milled around the many displays of vendors.

Terry Racing and ITP

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

The massive FMF Media Allstars set up was missing its leader Jorge Cuartas for the first time this season. His team did a great job filling in making sure the setup looked great. Jorge would be proud.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Fans were out checking the great looking bikes the Pro’s were riding. Travis Spader had his hands full keeping his “pet ape” from running off with his machine.

A not so joking note.

As a “reporter” I don’t form an opinion publicly, I don’t have favorites (well I do, I just keep that to myself), I just state the facts for what I know (yeah, I make mistakes from time to time…I’m not a robot) but something that happened this weekend made me really sad to realize that people like this are among our awesome racing series.

ex•trem•ist n. One who advocates or resorts to measures beyond the norm

This word can be looked at two different ways.

1. Suzuki is an extremist because they had the desire to “resort to measures beyond the norm” and do something no other original equipment manufacture (OEM) has done in 15 years by looking, acting and playing the business game that is involved in racing. Racing is and will always be business to anyone involved in it (promoters, sponsors, etc.). If it wasn’t good for business to be a part of it they wouldn’t do it. Chad Reed would be riding dirt bikes in his back yard in Australia while Ricky Carmichael would be the most popular local motocrosser in Florida. That’s a good form of being an extremist!

2. Now another way to look at this word is by those who take their distaste for a brand by “resorting to measures beyond the norm” and actually vandalizing their so-called enemy. You out there know who you are and what you did in the dark hours hiding in the shadows like cowards. This industry is just on its way to be something great, people like you don’t deserve to be a part of it. True fans of any sport will realize brand loyalty is normal, but taking it beyond proudly riding the brands you love, wearing the shirts of your favorite riders and partaking in friendly banter on “who’s better” is absolutely ridiculous.

Now, please raise your hand if you want to go right back to two years ago before all of this started, where a stellar rig like this was no where to be seen but at the nearest Flying J.

We have a long way to go before we are taken seriously by the world. Supercross is just now getting there after 30 years of existence AND they didn't have the CPSC almost destroy their industry. This industry needs your support no matter what you ride or who your favorite rider is.

Don't be a coward like some of those extremists that attended Muddy Creek this weekend. Get over whatevers the problem so we can all work together to make this sport rock...not suck!

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Okay enough with my soapbox...I apologize to those that are true fans of the sport. Fans like these waiting/anticipating (just like me) who the first to make it to the corner will be.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Doug Gust and Tim Farr talk while the track gets prepped. Farr looks rather calm, but just the day before during practice his back went into spasms to where he had to get off his ATV as his knees were buckling from the pain. Anyone suffering from back problems will tell you motions like that of riding an ATV are the last thing that you want to do. Trust me…I know. I don’t know how he’s doing it.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Just 20 Pro’s signed up not needing a qualifier for the first time this season. With that Chad Lohr decided to make this his return to the Pro class, donning number 15.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Jason DUNKelberger does a little dance getting warmed up for the moto.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Look who’s the most recent to change up plastics. Gil Attix.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

A little shout out to Tavis Cain’s sponsors.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Joe Byrd cleans up his chosen spot.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Travis Spader apparently found the right line…he got there first.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

While this pile up left no one injured but lots of riders upset.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Travis Spader wasn’t able to hold off Doug Gust or John Natalie too long.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Chad Lohr mixes it up with the two Joe’s. Haavisto (75) and Byrd (7).

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

A part of the pile-up Pat Brown and Tavis Cain try to work their way up. Pat Brown had a hard time getting settled. I am pretty sure he has bike issues from the get-off at the start.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Natalie (13) gets by Gust (55) with Kory Ellis and the group trying to not let them get away.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Greg Meeks had motor issues and cruised around as best he could trying to keep out of those able to keep racing.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

While Natalie and Gust were duking it out front with Ellis just hanging tight in second another race was going on further back with Farr doing his best given his condition.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

The lucky hat from earlier rounds wasn’t cutting it in this moto as Donald Lysinger takes 19th.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Donald Lamborn takes one spot ahead of Lysinger with 18th.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Taking 17th was Madison, Virginia native Chad Lohr.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Getting a bad start, Jeremiah Jones works his way up from the back to passing riders left and right and over a handful on the last lap alone.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

A couple of those riders included Gil Attix and Pat Brown who took 15th and 16th

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Harold “The Bee” Goodman finished up in 14th while…

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

…Tavis Cain took the 13th spot.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Fighting off the pain as best he could, Tim Farr settles with a 12th for the moto.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Matt White finishes the further back battle just shy of the top ten in 11th.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Doing what he could to salvage his moto, Jeremiah Jones rockets up to 10th.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Just able to hold off the charging Jones was Jason Dunkelberger who took 9th just behind…

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

…Joe Haavisto.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Joe Bryd rallied to 7th.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

In an earlier pass, Dustin Wimmer took over Travis Spader’s position and furthered another position above that by taking 4th in the moto while Spader dropped back to 6th allowing…

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

…Keith Little to sneak in for the 5th spot.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Kory Ellis had a rather easy time in third even with allergies that were driving him nuts.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Up front the entire time, the fans got a great show between these two going back and forth in position. Gust would come out on top for the moto but not without a fight to the finish with Natalie.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

A fan wears his souvenir shirt from round 4 on the GNC MX stop that featured Jeremiah Jones. Jones signs posters for fans in the background.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Riders are becoming more aware of what they are wearing around the fans to include Dunk and all of Lost Creek as they wore LCC team shirts. You guys were lookin’ good this weekend.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Rest is definitely what Tim Farr needed to try and make it for the second moto. This included having to miss out on meeting many fans. I know he sincerely apologizes for that although I’m sure all his fans just hope he gets better.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Kory Ellis gets surrounded by the best kind of fans.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Joe Byrd’s autograph line was nice and long.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Tavis signs a shirt.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Just a few of the ATVs waiting for the game.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

A nice line of Yamaha’s.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Gust holds up the two minutes to finish getting ready.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

The starts are always so powerful. Unintentional wheelies firing off the line showing how much force these animals have.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Dustin Wimmer heads up the hill leading to the corner…

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

…but something/someone forces him end up on his side instead of first to the corner.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

That holeshot would go to Travis Spader for number two of the day.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

The crew go nuts as they make their first lap.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

I was on the complete opposite end of the track from Gust’s get off but I hear it wasn’t pretty. What else could possible “cave in” your nerf bar than a pretty hard hit. Check out his left nerf. That’s not normal.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Sent all the way to the back…Gust (55) was in for another one of his come from behind fights.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Spader wasn’t able to hold on to his lead and dropped back to a duo with Dunkelberger and Goodman.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Still plagued with bike problems, Greg Meeks starts the race and finishes 20th giving him the 20th spot overall.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Down almost a lap, Wimmer refrains from trying to catch up and ends the moto in 19th for a 12th overall. He still resides in the top 10 for points.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Donald Lamborn stays consistent from the first moto for another 18th for the 19th spot overall.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Gust wastes no time catching up to Spader, Dunk and Goodman making his way around them.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Lysinger improves two spots over the first moto to earn 17th for the 18th overall.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

For his first pro class of the year, Chad Lohr finishes the second moto bettering over the last moto by one for 16th and overalling the day with the 17th overall.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Gil Attix finished 14th for the overall 16th.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Dropping four spots from the noon show, Matt White took 15th and overalls the same.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Striking the lucky number twice, Tavis Cain goes 13-13 for a 14th overall.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Dipping quite a bit from the first moto, Keith Little takes 12th and earns another 12 points placing him in 7th place with 111 points.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Pat Brown leads Tim Farr to the finish as they take 10th and 11th. Brown earned 13th overall while Farr earned two spots ahead of him with 11th.

Brown drops out of the top ten by just four points while Farr remains in the top ten in third with 160, shy of the leader by 29 points.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Joe Haavisto earns his second top ten overall of the season by taking ninth in this moto and overall the day with 8th. He still resides out of the top ten in points however.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Harold Goodman jumps the table top with many fans hugging the fence and tries to toss his goggles to the kids begging for them. Harold got to it just a tad to slowly and they ricocheted in front of me instead. When it was safe to cross the track I quizzed a few of the kids to see who the rider was that tossed them and a lucky fan who guessed right (or close enough ) went home with The Bee’s goggles.

No worries Harold, I got ya covered.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Joe Byrd took the moto in 6th, one up from the last and overalls the day in the same. Joe sits comfortably in 8th place for points with 102.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Even with being unable to race at Red Bud, he still rides consistently and goes 6-5 for the 4th overall as he is tied with Kory Ellis for 5th place in points with 115.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Kory is allergic to Muddy Creek…literally. Every year his allergies act up at this track so he was riding miserable but it obviously didn’t affect him too bad as he easily secured a 3-3 for the overall 3.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

It’s another Gust showdown coming from behind like a machine until he reached 4th where he had to settle. It was enough to place him on the podium in 2nd overall.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Jeremiah Jones was able to take 5th overall by getting a much better start in this moto earning 2nd. He looses ground however on the points leader with 136 points less 53 points.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Natalie was able to get to it quicker and had his goggles ready for a lucky fan before the tabletop. He didn’t get enough arm action as it fell inside the fence…

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

…no worries, the fan jumped the fence to get it.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

A great circle of fans and a German TV crew view the podium procedures.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

How about a twin race podium. Same riders in the same positions from round 7 at Red Bud.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

A closer look at Gust’s nerf bar.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Now that’s a celebration.

Posted by: GNC_Reporter

Natalie tosses another pair of goggles to the crowd of kids that were there.

Posted by: TCracin440ex

yea thats what im sayin i wanna see what they so called vandalized

Posted by: protraxrptr17

A vandal is the lowest form of life in the universe. Even lower than a thief. That really makes our sport look bad.

"So called vandalized"??? Why do you need to see? This is another one of those things that doesn't need alot of attention.
GMFB, take thier word for it and forget about it. The little ******* that did it wants everybody to talk about it and show pictures all around.

No, they threw egg's on it which damages paint and eats through clearcoats very easily, plus it is unneccesary and they definately deserve to be punished, but i doubt we'll find out who did it

Posted by: TCracin440ex

oh....i figured they woulda vadolized it by painting on it...but either way thats just terrible

Posted by: jcv400ex
