today was the first day i rode in sand pretty much. there are these wicked sand pits which are almost like small dunes. Sand riding has got to be one of the funnest ways of riding. I was hitting this natural table top and holy hell the landings were sooo smooth. i cant wait until next weekend ill be sure to bring my camera

Welcome to the world of sand

Sand is definatly the most fun stuff you can ride in. I got some small sand pits where I ride, after riding them, I can't wait to get to some dunes.

Sand riding is great. I used to ride at some sand pits in Jersey until the state really started to crack down on riding. Then I got to ride at Silver Lake, and all I can say is wow! I'm going back in about 2 weeks and I can't wait.

if u start riding in the sand alot be sure to get some paddle tires, it makes a world of a difference from regular tires to paddles

Once you discover the sand it will be your favorite.I drive 3 1/2 hours to ride at Sand Mountain once a month.

i would but i have to ride 10 miles on gravel and then a little on pavement to get there so they would be toast by the time i get there

COOL! next place…. GLAMIS, Cal. after riding there you will never feel the same riding in little pits (silver lake).

Just remember to not let that false sense of security (soft and cushy sand) get the best of you. It can hurt.
ride safe
play safe

It's called Sand Addiction...there's nothing you can do about it...

Like was previous posted, get yourself a set of paddles (only for sand) and you'll gain a new apprection for the gritty!

its gonna take alot more than that to keep me away from the sand.

and another thing to remember is that sand makes for softer landings when crashing.

We were there this last friday and the dunes have improved from last year and even this years early spring. With all the wind, there are nice big razors on top of all the directional dunes with a sorta flat rounded back side, great for landing when flying over them. The big puddles where everyone used to drag are just about gone, so let the drag raceing begin. Had a blast. How long are you going to be there? It is raining now so they should be smoothed out for ya.
ride safe
play safe

We are leaving this Wednesday night and should be there Thursday around noon. We will be there until Sunday afternoon. Are you going this weekend?

I wish I were. I am having major knee problems. I fell last Dec. in my garage tripped over the darn dog. It didn’t bother me then, went to glamis, have rode 4 times at silver since then and now this last Monday there is so much water under the knee cap I need crutches to walk. I am out of riding until Aug. I am soooo sad. I can’t get the doctors to move fast enough. Go for this test, try physical therapy.
I told them it needs to be cleaned up with the scope, skip the costly test and stuff just fix it now. I don’t want to be grounded I will become a drunk.

Have fun and play safe.
