What is the black knob on the left side of the carb for? It has some wires coming from the house it is on.

Is it up top? If so that would be for the hott start, but i dont know why there would be a wire coming from it. Unless its something different

You are probably seeing the Throttle position sensor. This is important because it provides information for the timing circuits. It is also part of the throttle safety feature. You should not move or adjust this sensor unless you have the information to recalibrate/adjust it. You might also be seeing the idle adjustment knob which is more on the back of the carb but does not have any wires coming from it.

It is facing the rear of the nike but it has wires coming fromthe housing. It is "big" about 3/4" in diameter. Does that help in determining what it is?
