id rather not bust my case, so i bought a case saver, well it doesnt do me much good if i cant bolt it on..my front sprocket is too big. id rather not change the gearing...so what can i do? im runin a 14 on the front and a 36 or 38 on the back..im not 100% sure.seems like its a 36

Most case savers will fit with a 14 tooth sprocket. What brand are you using? I'm not sure what type if riding you do, but a gearing change could cause you to be sluggish on the lowend and/or cause you to become a shifting fool.

Lotsa ppl just grind or mill (etc) the case saver to allow the 14 to fit inside the "arche". It dont leave a whole lot left but still does what its supposed to in the end.

Jeremy nailed that one. You may just need to take off a 1/16" or so from the inside radius of the saver. I had to grind down my stocker a tad to get the 14 tooth to fit. Since it's probably aluminum, trimming it should be done easily with any abrasive bit like a carbide bit or even an angle grinder.

hmm hope theres enough metal left to actually protect the case. ITs a moose saver..also, there dont appear to be any threads in my top hole..but it does look like there ever was...any ideas? theres plenty of room to cut new ones, i just thought it was weird that there wasnt any...its really smooth inside, no sign of old threads

The upper bolt is LONG, so you won't be able to see any threads. The lower bolt is short, like 20 mm, but the upper is like 60 mm.

The manual says the upper bolt is 100mm and the lower is 16mm

Yeah....I was just guessing....didn't think exact lengths were necessary.

that upper bolt is $2.00 at the dealer, i just had to get 1

case saver may not save your case. my cousins chain fell off and busted his case right where the clutch adjustment is. luckily he was able to jb weld it. Although it may have been much worse if he didnt have the saver.

well the bolt that came with the saver is way too small, it slides into the hole fine..my guess is, someone stripped it maybe and drilled it out and never rethreaded it or somethin...

While we are on the topic of case savers, My motor the top mount for the case saver broke off from I'm guessing a time when the chain fell off. I would rather not go in and weld something in place because I painted the cases. Is there anythying I can do?

Are you still referring to the upper bolt? If so, the case saver incorrectly came with bolts that are too short. The upper bolt is 100mm.....if you don't have this bolt, go buy one at the dealer and trash the one that came with the saver.

FontMaster,You can make a spacer to go between the saver and the case.The threads are actually in the right case,the bolt goes all the way thru the left case and into the right.
