I ride mostly in the woods and it can get really, muddy/rocky/slipery etc.. but i also like going to the mx track once and a while too. what tires would be good for me...? i was thinking holeshots. I was looking at the hd's but they are apparently heavy because the are 6 ply and i dont want to gain any weight. I like 4 ply tires (light but still strong) so i dont think i am going to a 6ply unless i find out anything diffrent... i was also looking at kenda klaws.. thanks alot I ride a 04 400ex.

jus buy stock tires, they r 4 ply.

just plain ol' holeshots 4ply tires? just wondering how much should i be able to get them for- 70$? (for one tire)

i got a set of holeshot XC's for the rear for $177.51, u can get them out of rocky mountain a lot cheaper.

are the 6 plys much of a doffrence between 4ply? like weight and expense?

i have the holeshot hd's on all four corners and i love them. i can still easily air out my ex without trying. they are lasting me very long so far and no punctures yet!! i do the same thing you do, mostly rocky muddy trails, hills and stuff like that, but occasionally i go to the track and they are fine.

what do you ride more? xc or mx?

buy the one that will suit you more for your more occasional riding style

xc- razr2 or holeshot hd

mx- holeshot mx or razr mx

all around- razr1 and holeshot

Yes the HD's are heavy but there is a good part about that.

My friend has a 400 with identicle mods as mine except he has regular holeshots (2ply). He can take me on the drags but in the woods I can beat him because I have a more useable torque.

He is also a better rider.

razr1 4ply.i have razrs that are getting in pretty bad shape and they hook up better than stockers do to me.i wouldn't get kendas they don't hook up that well.
