My buddy wants to know how far a stock 400ex will fly. I just built my new double and its about a 6ft take off and a 30ft gap. I think he'll make it but i thought I would ask you guys just to make sure cause i know you have way more experience then I do.

He can make it, it just depends on the speed. I hope he is ready for some hard landings on a stock 400.

Tell him to work up to it if he isn't used to jumping like that. Don't just pin it and try to clear, he will end up hurt. Just go a little more each time til he can clear it, and he should be able to clear that on a stock 400.

He wont screw up his quad right? he keeps saying he is goin to break sumtin.

He should be fine, just make sure he lands it properly to avoid a bent axle. It might buck him a little with stock suspension, but that is expected. Definitely start off with a smaller jump until he is comfortable.

As long as you have a landing your ok, I did a 65 foot table top with a stock suspension on my 400 last summer

i did a 35ft gap on my old stock suspension 300. i would hope your 400 could do it

Hey this is Razes buddy, I 'll be hitting this jump saterday, the last question I got is what gear would be best? I was thinking 4th. I dont want to over shoot it but I dont want to undershoot as well, thanks for all the help.

3rd gear. if you hit it in 4th you are looking at some broken a arm brackets
trust me

Will I over shoot it in 4th? But like Raze said you guys have way mor experience then me at this stuff so I'll take your word on it. we will be video taping it, so hopefully I can figure out a way to download it and show you guys.

yes you will overshoot it in 4th. I have a 35 foot table and its not quite as high as your friend stated it was. I hit that in 2nd gear and my ex is stock. So if you hit a 30 foot jump with a take off of 6 feet high you will prety much shoot straight up so you will want to hit it in 3rd.

Today I was landing on flat with my stok ex. There was a table but I cant cleer it due to lack of room to get up to speed. so I just land on the top. well I bottom the suspention out every time, and I get about 10ft or so high. so it aint all that big. and man does it hurt when I land. wow/

Luke, Don't just go out the first time and try to just pin it and clear the jump, work up to it little at a time. And as far as a gear, use you own judgement, but jumping is not all bout the speed, a lot is in the way you come off the jump and the way you preload. I can usually get a smoother landing and more air with preloading, while just hitting a jump will speed won't put you way in the air unless that is just the way the jump is built.

I have hit a table top that was 20 feet and 4ft take off. But I was just neverous seeing how it's a double. Plus Kenny(Raze) has done it already and had no problem. But he has his new 450R so it's a little different. Plus I want to be in the movie he's making.

where do you guys ride? i live in dexter which is right by ann arbor. Flint isnt too far from here
Posted by: LukeEX
Me and Raze were riding at Travis Parker's house, he's some old pro dirt bike rider I guess, but Raze got his hands on a Bacho(escavator) and built this jump, it's the 1st of a 40 acre track he's building.

is it in flint?

Yeah we live right outside of Flint in a town called Swartz Creek.

my suspention is stock and i hit a couple doubles that have a 5-6 foot take off and a 25-30 foot gap depending on which one i hit and the landings arent to bad i dont bottom out it just hurts and you have to stiffin up your legs a little but so youdont bust you twig and berries

u can go pretty big on a stock suspensioned 400. i did this(an 80 foot tabletop) on my 400 w/ stock suspension, and two other bigger jumps. but it's a little rougher than on the 450.

ive done about 60 feet on stock shocks. just be careful cuz if you land wrong its gonna hurt...bad. 30 feet is no biggy on the stockers tho your friend should be fine.
