Like how the trx450r has the hrc kit and the yfz450 has the free cam mod, and rejet. Whats the trick for the z400's and alike. I am just curius cause some freinds have 1 z400 and 1 dvx.

Pull the snorkel cover off, put a couple vents in the lid, and jet up to 145. That should get ya started. Check the Alba jetting guide for the Z on their website.

I removed the lid and used a 150 mikuni main.

i put a k&n filter on, removed the airbox lid completely, and put a 175 mikuni jet in the carb

and that helped quite a bit

Yep rejet with the lid off & 13 front sprocket seems to help the most for the money. DRZ base gasket will raise the compression to 12:1 for about $24.00 Some have removed the pea shooter from the exhaust, not sure if there was any performance gain. The rest will start to cost you.

Get a 150 horse shot and put on it, no really drill some holes in the lid or remove it (WITH JETTING) and and a pipe and maybe some gear changes.

a new carb... the yfz carb 39mm FCR is an awesome upgrade for them... i have 2 for sale if your interested..

Yes these things need better carbs! Also, get a drz base gasket and it bumps the compression up, cheap mod. If you have enough $, get some hotcams too, really wakes the beast up! Also, a 400ex airbox boot once you get the fcr on will compliment it very well.
