I have an 86' R that I'm just finishing rebuilding. But the problems I have ran into are where does the two hoses on the radiator reserve tank go? Theres one on top and another on the bottom. Also howdoes the exhaust manifold bolt up to the engine and exhaust? I know the springs have something to do with it. Also in the pics I'm going to post there is a T cable. where does it attach to?

Thanks a lot,

David

top line goes to the hole right below the radiator cap. its like 5mm in diameter, the bottom line u ziptie to ur frame and it is a runoff tube. the manifold, u bolt it so the spring holes face the left of the quad. the T cable, im not for sure. i need the pics for that one

That's backwards, the top hose is the overflow, it goes down the subframe and drops towards the ground. The bottom goes to the radiator. Check a shop manual on this, if you don't believe me. The t-cable is actually the motor vent. The shortest side goes to the motor, one goes between the swingarm and the motor and the other towards the top of the quad.

The exhaust flange olts to the cylinder with the 3 bolts and the springs go from the 2 holes on the flange to the 2 eyes sticking up on the pipe.Is that an ATC pipe you have?

Posted by: baker250r

no, thats wut the stock 250r's came with back in the day

Posted by: Pro1200

It's actually an FMF pipe, yea I know crappy pipe.

Posted by: Dave83

You get it all figured out?

Posted by: Pro1200

Yes everthing is figured out. Except one problem. When I attached the exhaust to the exhaust manifold and started up the quad it leaks at the bottom. Do I need any gaskets??

Thanks,

David

The flange that bolts to the motor should have a metal"split ring" type gasket that fits in a groove. If it is missing, you can go to an auto/hardwear store and for a hi temp rubber o-ring that fits that groove and sticks out enogh to seal the pipie off.
