i have a kfx400 with a rossier system and two of my buddies have crapters and the one has looney toon system and a 50t rear sproket and its jeted and i beat him and the other has a gytr slip on and i spanked him is it the driving or do i jus have better take off because i know there faster top end.

I had a 03 LE and it leaked oil like crazy and i could not keep a rear skid on that thing. As far as racing them in a straight line my buddy had a 04 Z400 and in the first 3 gears he had the lead by about 2 four wheeler lengths, after that is was Raptor on the big end. And i just bought a new 05 Z400 and i like it ALOT.

The problem here is that raptors just suck naturally, kfx's kick butt, but a Yfz 450 will spank anything and its mama.

Go with the Z you wont be sorry, and hey 450rider5 lets race in reverse. Theres alot of difference in the Z and the YFZ. As far as a better sport quad the Z rules, just my 2cents worth

The rider makes the biggest difference on a Raptor. I just got a new 05 and I like it alot. Its not near as bad as I've heard people say it is. It is a little tricky to launch in a drag though. Still working on that one..................

Some of you guys arent even reading the question, even though it is hard to follow. He isnt asking which to get, he wants to know if it was him or the bike that won.

Both of the Raptors should beat you convincingly, but the dual piped LTE Raptor should be much faster than your 400. I could see a somewhat close race b/w you and the GYTR piped one, but you should still be at a disadvantage.

A lot of it depends on tuning. The raptor needs the airbox lid off to make real power and proper tuning of the carbs. If that isnt done then it will make it close.

That said, you are probably the better rider. But I'm pretty sure neither of them has a 50 tooth rear sprocket, stock is 40.

Yeah, It was probably the rider.

Oh, and 04exdude just take it easy off the line in 2nd. It will serves two purposes.

1) Keeps you from looping out.
2)Let's them think they will win.

Then pin it, put her in third, and walk away, shifting in normal fashion.

BTW, I am not saying a Raptor will beat a Z in third gear, I am talking take off only.
