I want to go riding, i sent you a pm. I have this sunday off I know it will be cold and snow on the ground I'm still game though. I tried to get a Kansas ride together but then I got really busy with my new job and it kinda fell through. I think this spring I will def get one going after the time change. Most the places here will not let you ride after dark and the sort days and chitty weather lately would make it suck right now.

take 70 to exit 313 route 24 into manhattan to 13 across tuttle creek damn, first or second right over damn is dyer, 1/4 mile on your right is a sign for the spillway cycle area, there is a parking lot about 100m on your left

anyone ver been down to osawatamie? they have a pretty sweet riding area. theres a good dirt drag strip there, a small mx area in the middle of the trails, and a BUTTLOAD of trails. its pretty sweet actually.

ya its pretty sweet, the guy that owns the land doesn't give a **** if you ride on it, so people have built it up pretty nice, only bad part is no riding around deer season

Found lots of pictures of mountain bike trails there. It looks like they have lots of jumps made. Dont know if there big enough for my 48" wide quad though. I have never road trails besides the ones at the sand dunes in Oaklahoma and they are wide, I'm from western kansas wide open pastures and private tracks. I'm set up for moto cross wide and low.

Yeah they didn't have the roads cleared off at all at 7:30 on my drive to JC to work. Sucked bad really slick and dumb drivers going right down the center of highway 18.. Even 70 was not in great shape.

My uncle had a cabin in St. Gorge sold it a few years back. It sits down off the main highway. There was or still might be Phillips 66 station west of it up on the main highway. His drive way was through a pasture and it the house set right on the little creek and he had a deck overlooking it. Little two story with metal sprial stair case to get up stairs and a wood burning stove heater. He had a decent pasture land area that would be fun.
He built a garage there too, its all wood pannel the garage and house. Do you have any clue as to where I'm talking about.

Yo I'm just getting into quads and I want to ride this weekend. My lt250r is in the shop and supposed to be ready in a few days... just bought it and I've never rode a quad on a trip. I rode a crf450r till now, almost all MX. Want to get the lt on a track bad.

lt250r why did you do that to yourself. It is in the shop and it will spend a lot of time there to. My best riding friend from college had one and in three years dumped $4 grand into keeping it running, that thing was always in the shop. He got smart and parted it out and now rides a honda, 440ex it never has problems.

I rode my crf this weekend at some trails in KC (470 HI). Had a good day riding. Several of my friends wanted to ride so I didn't try to inform anyone else. 470 is sorta low key because police bug when there's lots of riders out there.
My lt20r should be ready this week. Might try to setup a ride. So, where did you guys ride?

Hey fella's Deep water is located near Clinton Mo. its about a hour away from me I live in Baldwin City KS. Im actually talking about maybe getting their this weekend Sunday? Heard it was going to be near 60 degrees with no rain in site till Tuesday! Im getting my 440ex re geared today new plastic silver and a sweet set of Trinity header and silencer put on! Plus just got a little 110 cc quad ready for my sons. Im iching to go riding. Their is also some areana cross in Kansas City near the end of this month. Thinking about intering. We need more quads. They had one in Topeka last month 3 quads in the pro class. and 3 in the Novice! IM a novice class. Let me tell you fella's I race im fat and out of shape but im in it for the fun and I couldve beaten 2 of the three riders. Their was only one guy who did all the jumps in the pro class the rest rolled the jump. And I gotta tell ya the guy doing the jump didnt gain that much ground on the guys just ( rolling) Im a roller!!!! Come join me!

Wish I knew ahead of time that they where going to race quads I might have entered. Would have been fun. Not sure I could come close to Tyler but possibly the other two. All else fails it was fun. Think their is one coming up in KC ..Hail Arena!!

So I had today off work and decided that i couldn't take being in the house all day. I hooked up the trailor and went to the Spillway Cycle area. It was pretty lame. My MX quad was almost to wide for some of the trails and 90% of them I was bustn' the edges of they were so tight. I wish I had just a stock 450R or Z400 would have been good too.. There were no real jumps but I found a few. I would go riding there again just because it is 10 mins from my house. I just dont really get into trail riding much because comming from Western Kansas we just dont go riding through many trees. I never got out of second gear through the trails. There were several cool drop in trails or shoots.

Im telling you fella's the best place to ride near Manhattan is Milford! Or come down to Dragoon Motocross track down south of Topeka! Its a fun track and on Sundays' you can practice from 11 to 3 I think for 10$. Perry sucks. However? Deep water isnt to far away from my house!

Also I have been thinking about getting wheel spacers for my quad 3 inches! Has anyone used them and if so see a difference?

yeah i have used them before and I would never go three inches!! That is just two far the suspension and ball joints were not made for that and it will put extra stress on them and make them bend eaiser or just break. Also the handleing will suck because it will push the center of your tire further away from the ball joint and that is bad.

You could run some douglas 190s with a 3-3 offset it will make it about 2inches wider and not be so harsh. I ran that set up last year. Switched to HiPers this year.
For more tracks try the KORR series. I dont know the website address. It stands for Kansas Offroad riders. It is a series i have ran several times.
also look here. www.jeepscycleclub.com for a good place to ride in Park City.
Thunder Hill also has a track i hear. I just moved to Manhattan a few months ago and am still looking for places to ride. The Spillway Cycle area is less than 10 minutes from my house so thats why I went there. Its not that big at all with tight trails. Some pretty cool drop ins if your quad will fit it the tracks my quad is too wide for some of them or i dont have enough ground clearence. Have not made it to Milford of Randolph yet but will this spring.

Ya ive been to Jeeps, I would like to do some flat track and TT's I think I will make the trip a couple of times this season! Might do some motocross as well but mainly at Dragoon. Their is this club that puts on some flat track at local fairs but you have to be a member not to race but to use their facilities well worth the 20$ per year something like that, and they have a really nice camp area plus many acres of riding. Plus its connected to Dragoonmotocross.com. Its called KATVA Kansas All terrain Vehichle Association. Ive heard two different story's that Thunder hill doesnt let quads race their due to the rutting? Then I have heard that they do. So I dont know im still trying to figure that one out! Your tire idea was a good one! Think I will do that. I need knew wheels anyways. I really want some new bead locks but they are expensive 180 per wheel. Plus you can change the disks. Milford is fun! I know I will be up their plenty this summer! its got open area's plus nice trials and you can ride right next to the lake and jump in and get cooled off all at the same time!
you mentioned another tire or combo of the two that you switched too why and what tire size and width do you suggest for best all around performance for my 440ex? Moto, tt's, oval, ect?

I run 19x7x10 maxxis mx up front and 18x10x8 maxxis mx in the rear on HiPer Technology wheels.
I switched to the HiPers becase one i got a good deal on them used and two they are strong as hell and if you do break them they can just replace the part on the wheel that broke because they are made in sections.
For Kansas it is always hard packed it seems so I think that old school turf tamers are the best. I wore out a set of holeshot fronts in one summer without a problem so I made the switch to Maxxis. The Razors grip great so far. For trail riding I need to get 9inch rears with some 20 inch tires and some 21s up front. Would probably get baja rims super strong for the right price.

well I had a much better time today at the spillway. I rode twice as hard because I was more comfortable knowing were I was at and I put all my gear on and that always makes ride more aggressive. The place had lots of riders, utilities and sport quads bikes, kids and even a tricked out go-kart built by some K-State kids that had IRS and TCS schocks and HiPers all the way around. Only a 10 hp briggs motor because that is all that they were allowed to use for a competion.
Anyway I had a blast and Im beat.

Not sure who stupid is but just wanted to make sure you didnt mean a 5hp briggs and stratton? When i used to race carts we had a 5hp that was blue printed, ran on alcohol! It pulled like 40 horses! I gotta tell ya I am a little jealous of your 450r but im pretty sure I can give you a run for your money! Do you think your going to race it this season? naw i went to hs in osage city class of 04. i used to race my kx at dragoon. i was sayin "say what" to the 40 horse briggs an straton thats crazy. what kind of carts were they, i raced part of a series out in colorado that used something like that. don't know what the hp was but they were running every bit of 75. best time of my life. right now i ride in my backyard mainly. perry is too rutted to even attempt anymore. we are buildin a freestyle track at a friends house in eskridge right now. it will be awesome. plans are for 5 8 an 10 foot ramps. it will be sick.

They told me it was a 10hp and that was all the bigger they were allowed with the rules of the competition that it was built. And to be honest I didnt even really ceck it out that closely I was there to ride before it got dark.
I dont know if I'm racing anymore. I just didn't have that much fun last year racing because I cant get enough seat time like I did in the past years. So Im out of shape. Several times the only time I would each week were at the races and that just isn't good enough to be competive like I want. If I do race at all I might go to Jeeps once and maybe check out Dragoon because it seems the closet to me now.

I am starting a company, mainly for the soul reason to put out a video or two. I am not looking to make any sort of profit. Mainly just to put my mark some place outhere. It will mainly be funded by myself so that means extremely low budget. This posting is to find anyone interrested in getting in the video. It will only be marketed locally and for who ever wants it on here. I figured if any of you guys want when the weather gets a little better we can all meet up and get some riding done. If it does fair pretty well then I wouldn't mind kicking some money out to who ever wants to ride. Like I said this mainly just to have a project. I have been kicking this idea around for awhile and finally decided to go all or nothing. For the ride(s) I thought of getting shirts made which may cost 5-10$ unless everyone is dead set on wearing their jersey's. Its just for chits and grins. I'm not looking for pro riders but some one that atleast knows how to change gears. The company name will be named Switch Gear. Unless some one happens to already have that name. Or might never make it to a company and just have that as a general name.

Shape what is that lol man I weight way to much I played football in college and now well I am a far cry from what I used to be. I just love to go out and give it hell! Its just fun for me granted I get competative but heck man if I dont take first its all good! My dad still races with me from time to time he's 55! His saying ( someones gotta take last) I really want to go to jeeps and do some flat track! Now that looks fun to me! Keeping all four wheels on the ground! I mean all ya gotta do is take a bike strap and compress your shocks as far as you can! And then if you wana do MOTO take the strapes off!
Dragoon is fun especially for quads not to big of jumps and not to technical! I should be their this sunday for practice if wheather holds! 10 to 3 $10 ya you gotta pay but its not to expensive! Call before ya go! dragoonmotocross.com!
Anyways got two boys 2 yrs and 7mo so I know I am going to stay with this for a hobby! Maybe one of my boys will go pro or something but for now I just do what I love! Granted im trying to drop 30lbs to be more competative but If I lose! I will always know their is a 12 pak waiting in the truck after the race lol!

Well thanks for not comming I had the whole place to myself besides this tool and his beat to chit cr250. Anywho I rode my arse off I rode to the point i had to tell myself "up legs" to get my fat butt off the seat or pile it up.

I am trying so hard to find a set of those bead lock wheels with the red rings on them! Im trying ebay! looks like a set will run me $750 wow ! Not sure they are worth that much. I mean really the only reason I want them is for the red outer rind that would match my quad perfect!
Plus one guy told me to try Douglas 190's with a 3-3 offset to give about 2 inches each side for that ( extra) stability!
As far as Camping goes Dragoon has a lake and a campsite right next to the race track or you could pay like 15 dollars a year for a membership to KATVA that has a camp grounds with electricity and 200 acres or something like that to ride on ! Really a pretty sweet deal!
Look out for those tree's ......... they always seem to move right in front of me!

Just got a B+ on inspection from the owner today, thats extremely good for him, I dont remember a single time in the 5 years that I had worked for him before that I got that high of a score.
So I'm celebrating by going riding again at 4:30pm at the spillway cycle area.

Its a small area with tight trails and some decent little drop ins and increible views of the lake and spill way. I go there because its 10 mins from my house.
If we go next sunday it will have to be later in afternoon I have family comming to town.

two to three hours would be a good amount of time there. There is on jump that I need more quads to hit to help wear it in, and there is a huge area we could run drag races.

i mostly ride private ground but do go to john redmond resivior(sp?) every once in a while. we got about 80 between reading and osage that we usually ride at.

our pasture is about half way between osage and reading on the highway, its open terrain with some jumps and a good drag race spot. if ya wanna go out there and ride sometime just let me know.
john redmond is a good place to ride and has some small jumps but is mostly kinda open trails with some in the wooded areas. ive spent acouple days in a row out there and still had a good time. most of the trails i coulde cover without gettin outta third gear.
