hey everyone,

i am not very mechanically profficiant. anyway, i had a pretty bad crash (sideways into a tree) and i bent my axle real bad. i ordered a new axle and bearings, but my buddy says that since the crash was so violent that i need to replace my swing arm bearings as well. can anyone give me a suggestion, or should i just wait it out and see how it performs after i change the axle and rear bearings.

thanks

if you hit your axle so hard that it bent, then i would get the swing arm berrings

I would at least check the swingarm pivot bolt and make sure it's straight.

axle bearings I would say yes, pivot bolt and bearings you might want to check just to be safe

I would remove the swingarm bolt and grease it anyhow to stop it from seizing. Retorque to 80 ft/lbs. You can put a straight-edge on it when it is out to see if it is bent.

Personally, I would change out the bearings and possibly the sleeves. You have it apart already so now is the time. It won't be too much longer until you have to do it anyhow.
