hey i have got a question when i was changing my oil filter the longest bolt that attaches the oil filter cover snapped how can i get i out or can i tap a larger hole and put in a bigger bolt

No biggie. This has happened to many people here, inlcuding myself. You can try easy outs, and other removers first. I ended up pulling the side cover off and just unscrewing it. That is probably the least stressfull way. Get a new gasket kit, pop the side cover off and it should be real easy to get out.

This happened to my friend just last week, chances are if you get a left handed drill bit it will come right out when you go to drill it. If it doesn't then get and easy out for the hole you just drilled and it will come right out.

left-hand drill bit is pretty much an easyout. Happened to 2 out of 3 of my ex friends. crappy bolt I guess.

i got it out. but i dont really want it to happen again. do you think it would be alright if i rethreaded it and use a bigger and shorter bolt?

Does anybody know what torq it should be at and still be tight? because i heard of people tightening (sp) them down to specs and still snapping.

7 FT LBS but just tighten them snug two finger tight or it will snap again dont use a torque wrench.
