Round #6 of the 2005 ATVA Grand National Motocross Championship takes place at Budds Creek in Leondardtown, Maryland. Even with the rain, there are over 700 entries, which is 100+ more than last year!

The races have been delayed an hour today because of the mud an wet conditions. They scraped a foot of mud off the track, and no one practiced this morning. During yesterdays practice, only 3 pros went out, and Jason Luburgh broke his collar bone. Lets hope for the best today!

Please hold comments till the end of the broadcast, or head over to the Budds Creek Discussion Thread....thanks!

A little more Jones

Posted by: Pappy

Dunk was stylin for my lens!

Spader was getting warmed up.

Them guys sure make it look so easy

Jones was full of smiles while he greeted fans and signed autographs

Posted by: Pappy

A sneak peek over Little's shoulder

Posted by: Pappy

Did'nt you guys know I can shoot MX also

Posted by: Pappy

I will admit, nailing the Pro's was a job. In a race setting with them hammering down it was all i could do to grab a few decent shots

I will post some more shortly...that is if you want to see more

Posted by: motochicksmom

Nice pics...THANKS....duh, of course we want to see more!!!!!!!

Posted by: Pappy

well if you insist

beware, it was a long day and some of the pictures might have not been sharp....like this one

Posted by: Pappy

Farr was chasing down Natalie in the 1st moto, but Natalie wasnt going to be caught

Posted by: Pappy

I believe if the track had been a bit wider in a few turns Gust would have taken a position from Farr (the corners were tight and some had piles of mud just off the main line)

Posted by: Pappy

This was actually the first GNC ive ever attended

Posted by: MXRACER86

SHOW ME ALL THE PICTURES YOU GOT!!!

Posted by: Pappy

Jones was riding hard, but time ran out for him to grab more spots

Posted by: Pappy

Im still undecided which event id rather shoot...GNC or GNCC

Posted by: Pappy

I should have taken all crappy shots so i wouldnt get sent to another GNC Oh well

Posted by: Pappy

The amatuer races, to me, were actually more fun to watch. They didnt hold anything back and were banging bars everywhere!

Posted by: Pappy

I didnt check, but I'm geussing Natalie had an easy 10 to 15 second lead in the 1st moto

Posted by: Pappy

The race to watch in moto 1 was between Gust and Farr

Posted by: Pappy

Id like to spend a few days shooting these guys. they are pretty predictable on the jumps

Posted by: p@iNn3ck

Looks like the leader boards may change a little too....

Gust is one rider that appeared to be able to reel in whoever was in front of him.

Posted by: Pappy

Ive never seen Jones ride except for video. To me it seems if he just isnt the same on a 4 stroke.

Posted by: Pappy

Joe Byrd looks over to his left keeping the next spot in check

Posted by: Pappy

Attix has some serious potential

Posted by: Pappy

Natalie is in peak physical condition and its showing, race after race

Posted by: Pappy

Farr had his hands full with Gust and unless Natalies quad broke in half before the checkers, they didnt have a chance of catching him!

Posted by: Pappy

Gust started really applying pressure to Farr late in the race

Posted by: p@iNn3ck

Posted by: Pappy

Dunk was picking up the pace and started closing into those battling infront of him

Posted by: Pappy

Byrd was throwing some serious body english

Posted by: Pappy

Haha, dont get me wrong, I had a blast. I was just out of my element thats all

natalie sends it high as he continued to walk away from the field

Posted by: Pappy

Natalie working the turn

I snapped those last 3 pictures of Natalie and only missed Farr in the air on teh first pictured jump

Dunk chasing down Wimmer

Posted by: Pappy

High Point I will be at, so i hopre to get even better pics

Jones charging hard

Posted by: Pappy

Byrd heading for the downside

Posted by: Pappy

None of these guys are skeert of big air!

Posted by: Pappy

I was actually getting wore out watching these guys hammer for what seemed like forever

Posted by: Pappy

I wanted to get more shots of these guys in the turns, but the sun wasnt right. never mind the fact that the turns had such a berm built up from the rain and track personel pushing the mud it was pointless

Posted by: Pappy

With the dust held to a minimum i took what i could get!

Posted by: Pappy

If Farr made a mistake, Gust was going to make him pay for it!

Posted by: Pappy

The better part of the race this is what you saw!

Posted by: Pappy

I like it when the competition gets close

Posted by: Pappy

Gust made a move but it didnt stick.

Posted by: Pappy

Natalie looks over and checks out the short old dude with the camera

Actually he was just keeping an eye on Farr and Gust

Posted by: Pappy

White took out Dunk

Posted by: Pappy

They got the quads seperated but Dunks quad broke during the collision, leaving him sitting

Posted by: Pappy

Dunk takes a seat and wipes the sweat from his eyes. He was a true sportsman and wasnt mad at all. Good show Dunk! Your what its all about!

Posted by: Pappy

Ellis didnt fair any better and was towed off the track.

Posted by: Pappy

Folks, thats about all i have of the pro riders. Im sure i have more pics of them but that should hold you over for now

ofcourse there is a few hundred shots of the amatuers

Posted by: Pappy

Ok , 1 more.

This youth rider hit hard, never came off the quad and finished racing! The shot caught me off gaurd so im sorry about it being fuzzy. How he saved it I have no idea, im just glad he wasnt hurt and kept on keepin on

Posted by: wvspeedfreak

Cool pics Pappy.I am really starting to dig the MX thing lately.

Posted by: MXBlaster23

Nice Shots! Are you going to post all your shots ina gallery somewhere?

Posted by: Dupontster

Pappy, I sure wish I had of known you were there...I would have said "hey"....I am sure we probably bumped into you ten times....We covered that place from top to bottom side to side...Sorry I missed you....Excellent pictures....

Posted by: Pappy

i saw your quad but you werent around.

we tried walking more of the pits but Ryan (my 7 year old) was giving us fits wanting to tear off and jump in the mud so we stuck to teh hard road and saw what we could from there.

once the action started, my place is trackside so thats where i was a few folks shout "PAPPY" as they raced by so it was all good

Posted by: Pappy

I was pretty happy to see this wait till ya see where else we start popping up

But that was after he took both Suzuki riders out, with some of the dirtiest racing i've ever seen...

Dirtiest or hardest......... don't knock these guys till u can get out there and ride like them...... I'm sure Wimmer did nothing intentionally, and if he did.......well heck he was on the podium and they weren't!!!!!!!! so good for him..keep it up Dustin!!!! Way to ride!!!

Posted by: RemNS

Pappy,
Next time you introduce yourself say Hey I'm Pappy!
I didnt even know that was you!
I was going kinda crazy at that point of the day though!
Nice to somewhat meet you!
Great pics also!

Get ready for the whole editorial style race report from the Pro Race and video of all of what happened in both motos!
I think that I only missed the White and Dunk mishap and maybe Brown going down but as for the rest of it,,,,,,,, I got front row seats for you guys to see what went on!

The Production Class Blow Out of Coverage will be up by Wednesday this week!

Just to clear a little up, Natalie Got bumped a good bit on the downhill after the start and I'm sure he got a little pissed about it!

He bumped back a little and it was more obvious in the sections that it happened!

I don't know maybe he spun Gust and Jones out because he dos'ent like suzuki's!

Johnny was a little impatient but to some people rubbin is racin!

Made it an interesting race though!

I know that Gust and Jones were pissed after John spun them out also!

You could see it in Gust's riding style that he wantexd revenge on Natalie!

After Natalie got up behind Farr, He pressured him a lot and they both went off a table together and touched in the air!

Natalie landed in the soft loomy stuff and hit at a dead stop and went over the bars !

In all honesty, it looked like Farr was holding back on that jump all weekend because in the second moto he almost got landed on by Jones and Wimmer also!

John might have miscalculated and jumped beside Tim when he might not have wanted to!

Anyway, Great racing and what happened was paid back I guess you can say! Maybe Gust and Jones will start break checking if the spin out reoccurs!

That's racing when there are a lot of things up for grab!

Time to go to the next round and leave everything back at Budds Creek!

Just my opinion !

Until then !

Rick

Posted by: jlhughes750

Awsome reply REMNS....

rubbin IS racing..... and knowing how not to get spun is too.....

this is also a points battle so , we can see whos using there head!!!! I think its great for competition!!

Posted by: itlnstln

First off...I was not talking about wimmer. I think wimmer did awesome all weekend, he dominated the qualifier, and in my oppinion if he had got around Farr in the second moto he might have pulled away from everyone.

Second... Suzuki's Doug Gust was on the podium, he took third over all (and should i mention after a very hard crash in round 5, I couldn't believe he went out there and did soo well)

Posted by: Pappy

I am staying out of the issue what happened happened, and next round I hope these guys act like the Pro riders that they are! At thier level, with the pressures they have on them, sooner or later its bound to give way to an incident.

Turn to Nascar for example...certainly not as much $$ on the line but the emotions are just as high. Now if John had waited till Farr and Gust came around and threw his helmet at them it would be different

RemNS....no prob man, im used to being an unknown....I like it that way

Posted by: ROBBSRACING

nope that aint robbie leonard its Jason Conell (7)from neatv

Posted by: p@iNn3ck

Lets see..... thats happened in Nascar AND Supercross.....

We're not stooping to their level!

I have a few more.

and yes, i have the womens class, but those shots will be in the actual race coverage thread

Posted by: Pappy

i didnt take as many shots as i should have. maybe ill turn it loose at the next one

Posted by: Pappy

catching 2 riders or more is always cool

Posted by: Pappy

i sure am glad it didnt rain on sunday

Posted by: Pappy

power washing between moto's sure helps!

Posted by: Pappy

It was hard to pick out anyone from the side of the track that i knew

Posted by: Pappy

the first rider or two past me could be seen, other then that it was looking bleak to find a number plate that was clean

Posted by: Pappy

450R's and YFZ's all look the same once they have been treated to a good roost job

Posted by: Pappy

the track hasnt really changed much since i raced it back in the late 80's

Posted by: Pappy

this guy had me looking twice, for a second i thought it was Lou (quad041)

Posted by: Pappy

There were some sharp looking mini quads there!

Posted by: Pappy

dual a arm kits look pretty radical on the small quads

Posted by: Pappy

the first few heat races of the day were a bit nasty in spots!

Posted by: Pappy

symetrical roost

Posted by: Pappy

instead of walking, i whipped out the big lens and was getting shots all over the course

Posted by: Pappy

i was happy to not have to walk them hills non stop!

Posted by: Pappy

Joel Hetrick on his sweet 90

Posted by: Pappy

some of these mini racers can top $16k

Posted by: Pappy

Joel Hetrick airing it out!

Posted by: Pappy

how about a 450R chassis set up with a 90cc set up!

Posted by: Pappy

a few of the 90 mod riders could ride now!

Posted by: Pappy

the set ups seemed very close between the top riders

Posted by: Pappy

i love watchin these kids hammer down!

Posted by: Pappy

a few more shots from the hot lap

Posted by: Pappy

i dont think i will pass up the chance to attend another GNC

Posted by: Pappy

is riding around on a golf car the "IN" thing at the races

Posted by: Pappy

i bet i almost got plowed by a few carts

Posted by: Pappy

not sure who this is

Posted by: Pappy

The YFZ is still the best looking quad in my book

hope you enjoyed them, and im looking forward to meeting some more folks at the next one!

Wimmer never touched me at all. I was trying to pass timmy for the lead and we went over a tabletop together and timmy hit a hole and drifted over twords me and landed on my front end and it stopped my front wheels and sent me over the bars. no big deal, thats racing.

Now as for the whole thing with Doug and Jerimiah, yeah there was some bumping but it wasnt a "tee bone" like some people have been saying. Jerimiah was going through the turn b 4 the finish line and was too far sideways from lack of traction and I tapped his rear wheel with my left front tire and he spun around. As for doug, we were comming up the uphill to a sharp right handed turn and I was on the inside of him and slid out and bumped him into the deep dirt. it was not a tee bone. The part that everyone forgets is that both of them hit me hard in the start. Going down to the second turn JJ used me as a berm and put me out in the deep dirt. also last year Doug hit me so hard at mount morris that he broke my bike, Nobody called that rough riding. he also slammed Timmy at casey 2 years ago with pictures of him hitting him directly in the side, nobody said anything then either. last year jj took me out by running dircetly into the back of me, I didnt protest. come on guys if your going to bump and hit people dont cry when it happens to you. I might not have handled myself exactly the way I should have, and for that I apologize to all of my fans out there. I will come to red bud stroger than I have been all year!! If they want to bump there they will have to catch me!!

Thanks everyone

John Natalie #13

p.s. If you have any questions feel free to ask me. Ill tell you the truth.

I'd still like to hear EVERYONE's side of their story. Too bad we can't hear WImmers, Farrs, Gust, Jones, Browns, Dunks etc. May prove to be very interesting. We're hearing different sides from the spectators too? Hum???

Natalie,
all i got to say is, your the best if not the greatest rider ive seen. not only are you awesome on the track, your with this sport 100%. you werent in the trailors like the only guys. you were out and talking with us having a good time. i didnt care how long your line was, i wanted your autograph, and i got it. you showed everyone whats the pros really should be doing. by the way your body language through the air is unreal, i was amazed how fast you were in person. great racing. good luck in 2 weeks.

It would be awesome if other Pro's posted on here.......since so many of us read this coverage.......but so far Natalie is one of the only one's that posts pretty regularly. I don't know if it's because they don't want to take the time, they don't care, or they would rather not post in a public forum ...........like I said, I think it's great that Natalie talks to everyone.

I think that some of the pros don't actually read this, some of them do and just don't take the time to post a reply, and some of them read it and don't want to post a reply, reason being. They just don't want to get caught up with these people making assumptions about the racing, their attitudes, and so on! I just hope that i don't get verbally attacked on here from someone that doesn't even know me! Then have 50 other people agree with the first person and have it grow until the whole thread is bashing me for really no reason at all!!! Yes i'm talkin from experience here! Now back to the racing! Yes its the Pro class, yes its aggresive, yes its crazy racing against all the pros! Is there ever dirty riding? Sometimes their is! Is there a fine line that shouldn't be crossed when it comes to just how much you will put yourself and other riders in danger to make a pass? Absolutely! I'm not goin to say any names or point any fingers. Cause i think everyone has made a pass at one time or another that might not have been the cleanest or nicest pass ever made! I think i'll end with that for now. I definately didn't have to great of a day this past weekend at budds. I'll be ready for Red Bud next weekend!!! I also wanna thank everyone for all their support for the sport! Whether it be at the races or checking atvriders for the results! Everything helps! The fans are what keeps this sport growing as rapidly as it is. All your support is greatly appreciated! Without you the sport wouldn't be where it is today!

see you at the races,

Dunk,

I just wanna say that you are one of the most awesomest racers. And I think that you are one of the nicest guys out there. And hanging out when you were here in cali in 2004 with Brown was awesome especially with the walkie talkies.... and I just wanna say sorry that you broke first moto but you, Brown, and Ellis are my favorite riders, and I hope that i can be as fast as you someday....

WOohooo!!! Another Pro on here!!! That's awesome!!! I can understand the "getting flamed" issues....happens alot.....heresay spreads rumors faster than the speed of light sometimes.....but that's why it's great to be able to correct incorrect assumptions - or at least share some other views......everyone can step back then and take a more informed view of things.......

Thanks for the excellent coverage again, and thanks againt to the pro racers who take the time to talk to us.....

this is a post made by august goebel found it interesting

that was a VERY dirty move of natalie, if you guys dont know natalie use to be INFAMOUS for dirty passing and spinning people out in the pro-am and lower divisions, i think he got frustrated he was having a hard time with doug and thought if he didnt get around him it would slow him down. Natalie better watch it out there , its bad enough to piss off doug gust , its worse to make everybody out there your racing with the #1 Target.

Posted by: BlueZ440

Man I wish people would just let this bumping, hitting, spinning topic DIE.. It's a different week and another race is around the corner..

Posted by: baker250r

so when is the race coverage goona get posted? im sick of hearin about who hit who... i wanna see the lap by lap pics! lol

as for the hitting thing I see where everyone is coming from and I think john said it best.. no john is not my idle and I dont think he's the best that ever wuz or will be. do I think the guy is having a great year hell yeah!!!!!!! to the people who saw john wreck, that was something else this guy held onto the handle bars the whole way down. his body bounced 2FEET off the ground and he got up and finished the race. it was amazing.. john I don't think you should have pressured so hard after you where a lap down.. but hey when your in the heat of the moment in a race somtimes you do things you might I SAID MIGHT regret later ,it happens
I forgive him and say keep on keep'n on john

guess everybody forgot about poor ol' jason luburgh and his broken collar bone this weekend

A little bumping and grinding here and there is normal, everyone does it in all classes from c to pro. The thing that isn't normal is all the whining about it. I know I will probably get blasted for this post but Suzuki seems to be doing the majority of the crying.Get over it, you can't hit what you can't catch.Isn't blocking a faster rider from passing a little dirty? If that is stratagy than so is a little nudge in the corner.I watched John Natalie race at Pymatuning at the last Matt Bartosek race and he got taken out from behind by someone, got going again, came back and won the race.If I remember correct when intervieved he was joking about getting spun out, no crying about it at all.If someone is worried about getting tapped than its time to step it up or move out of the way. Good luck John and don't change your style at all.

Posted by: Racer818

Why do you all keep saying things about protests. Suzuki didn't protest from what I hear. The ref walked up to gust before he even stopped his quad and had him follow him. That if you ask me is not Suzuki. Yes, The winner always seems to get protested a lot. Suzuki was protested a tone last year. Did you all read the magazine? They checked their helments, their shoes where illegal, Gust cheated in the start by rolling back. Suzuki got tore down. I didn't one time hear Gust or Suzuki crying about a protest. Nothing against John but who cares if you get protested. Suck it up and take the spotlight with pride. Suzuki did last year. That is all part of winning. Don't try to bring up the past leave it in the past. The video will tell the story when they post that. Let the racing go on and get over it. Whoever takes the championship derserves it. Quit ragging on one or the other Doug and John are both great riders. None of you have the right to dog either one of them unless you are out thier with them. John if you read this I suggest you leave it alone don't try to defend youself people will belieave what they beleive. Put it behind you put your chin up and race the next race. Doug and John are both champions in my eyes. I hope they both act like it at the next race.
