ok im looking at a 03 predator brand new for a killer deal. but i heard there is problems with the 03. what are the problems? i dont ride hard at all. I take very good care of my atvs. but will that still matter? the biggest jump i will ever hit is my 25' double. will the suspension and frame hold up when hitting it? i ride trails and sand pits. is this a good quad for me. im about 5'10" 150lbs. i can toss my 400 around pretty good but the power is getting so boring and i dont wanna dump a chitload of money to make it go faster. how much power difference is there between a stock pred and a 400EX with a slip on
. thanks

I've had my 03 since the day they came out and have had no problems at all....just keep the maint up and you'll be fine....no comparison power wise...It'll flat out smoke the 400.....Later...

03 has a longer swing arm and it doesn't lift as easy. Depends on what you want. I prefer my 03 for the handling but many like the lighter feel of the 04's. The tranny is the big issue with 03 but they have provided a update kit for the tranny. The frame is the 2nd issue and it was fixed too in 04. From what I have been reading, Polaris is still covering 03 frames if they crack. I'm 3 years in, and still doing good.

whats wrong with the trannys in them. is it just from harsh riding like mx? i dont ride mx so my trannys arent very abused

harsh riding/powershifting.....like i said keep the oil changed and you should be fine....

Pulling a wheelie on my 03 is a little hard. Mind you it's stock. A 13T front or 39T rear should fix that. The only tranny issue I have had is that sometimes neutral is a pain to find. How often are you looking for that gear? Not much here.
