I find it hard to believe that you beat a shee in a drag race. Was it a short race or long. With the gearing you give you where geared for top end and there is noway you had any bottom end, I had a 03 LE and it had problems with Z400s in the short runs. And in long runs i could get around everything i ran up to 76mph. Mine had a yosh s/o, k/n, dg steel nerfs and fully skidded.

I guess you haven't raced one or rode one. The raptor has a little more topend speed but the 450 will smoke if off the line and it will take a long race for it to catch up. I raced many and the results are always the same.

I've ridden the yfz, and raced plenty of both 450's. They are excellent machines with a great deal of power, light weight, and the best racers from the factory easily capturing the handling advantage. But they arent nearly as invincible as the owners like to think they are.

Bone stock on flat ground is one thing. Sand hills, flattrack, sand drags, and other situations with slightly or mildly modified bikes are another.

here is what i have noticed about 2 stock quads, ona an raptor, one an yfz on flat ground, with some small rocks but hard ground none the less: 2nd gear on the yfz's is extremely strong, pulls on the raptor, then after that they end up being even. top speed i couldnt tell you though, and i couldnt tell you about any other surfaces. none the less, both are extremely powerful!

ok. my 05' Raptor beat a 98' Shee'. with 9k in mods in a straight out drag on hard packed dry mud. beat him by half a quad to his front wheels at my rear 9/10 times. if you can get the Raptor on ground with very good traction. you will do great. and i wish someone with a 450 would race. i find it hard to believe that a 450 would out run a raptor as bad as mr big tries to imply.

it all comes down to the rider between 450's and raptor.. iv seen a good 450 rider smoke a raptor.. but then iv seen the other way around... also.. i think the raptor ppl have a sense of superiority.. most claim they go in the 90's and even 100... i had a friend say his went 87 stock and always brags how he beats my 400 in a race..... well get off the raptors nuts it has a 260cc larger engine..... it better kill a 400 and 450.. yet it barely does?

i agree with the rider thing, but because of the difference in compression and cam timing, etc, the raptor and the 450's stock are extremely close. however, once you change the internals of the raptor to an comparable level which the 450's are at, the raptor does have an huge displacement advantage in which the 450's cannot beat. but, the 450's weigh less. none the less, a great drag bike would definately be the raptor. a great jumping bike (because of the light weight in my opinion) would be the 450's. i have an raptor because of the incredible power potential of an stock 660. i feel that yamaha made the raptor knowing people would love the cc advantage and immediately modify it. maybe i am wrong but imagine if yamaha built the raptor stock with high comp piston, aggressive cam in an dohc setup. they could have, but oh well, they didnt. maybe they arent allowed to, who knows!

yes i have owned and ridden a raptor and 450r. my rappy only had a pipe and so did the 450r, the bottom thru mid we were completely tied in a drag but top end i walked away quite quickly. and NO its not the riders because this guy has been racing for 4 years (and places no lower than 4th) and only weighs 125 and i am 145.

before i blew my tranny on my rappy i raced a stock banshee w/paddles in the sand drags and we were tied all the way through 300ft.

right now i am looking for another raptor because i am very unsatisfied with hondas reliablity and performance. they were supposed to be "good" in the reliable department but i found out that my old yammys were just as reliable if not more

Well I raced a raptor with my 400ex and I whooped his ***. Oh I forgot, we took his seat off to check the air filter because I asked when the last time he changed it was and he said never. It is an 02. It was so black and clogged I couldn't believe it. Ha ha, even though I whooped him because he was lacking tons of power, I still give him ****. Since it has been cleaned thoroughly, I can't touch him. Still it is funny.

Do you like your raptor? Why does it matter what other people think you have to ride it and if you like it thats cool. I am just stating that I raced my friend when both were stock and from the start I pulled about 3 bike lengths ahead. If you can beat 450's all the power to you!

It takes about 2k into a banshee motor to beat a 4k dollar raptor engine build. It just gets more ridiculous from there.

As for the 450's, let them say what they will. The true test will come soon enough, just humiliate them then with a silent win.

Rider had to do with it but the banshee will only take me on high end it seemed like. i would pull a quad length or so ahead of him and at 4th gear changing to fifth he would start to catch up again.

First off, I'll bet the 9k wasnt into the engine alone. Second, your buddy either cant ride or you're leaving some choice info out of the story. Your piped raptor will be lucky to beat a piped banshee, all it would take is a decent port job on stock carbs and your bike wouldn't have a prayer.

You know that your bike didnt beat his, you as a rider beat him the rider; so dont try to insinuate so much by your story.

How about you read what i wrote again. i said rider had to do with it. i've riden his banshee and it is hella fast. i just don't think what you said about it takes 2k into a banshee to beat a 4k raptor engine. and this guy has about 8k in engine mods. 1k in suspension/axle. and i'm not insinuating that the banshee isn't fast. On any other ground surface i'm sure i would probably got my butt handed to me. but it was almost impossible to break your tires loose on the ground we were riding on. idk if you've riden a raptor but they have a lot of Torque so if you can get it so the wheels won't spin. you will have a lot of acceleration. and that is how i beat him. 9/10 times.

I read what you posted, and you are insinuating that despite the rider differences your raptor is comprable to a built banshee, which is a laughable statement.

Get some experience racing a few more banshees. For 2k you can pull 90hp from a shee, for 4k on a raptor you wont break 80 and you'll be 50-125 pounds heavier.

You've got a piped raptor, they make good hp but they arent anything special. Yes I've definately ridden a raptor, and I've piloted a few shees as well.

i'm not saying my raptor is the best or anything. it is just piped jetted and airbox mod. thats it.

For 8k most banshees are in the 125-150 range, sometimes more. They must not have much for banshees where you live. Check out some other forums online and you'll see just how cheap it can be to make a fast shee.

My friend has that on his banshee. Trinity claims 100hp but his made 76hp on the dyno which is still amazing fast.

TRY VP112! He has trinity power valve cylinders and one piston is the size of a stock 250r. He has at least $6000 in the motor alone and probably another $4000 in the chassis. It's all about how much cash you have to spend!

It is extremely fast but I can keep up with him on my 450r on a track. He definately has a lot more power than me but the rider plays a big part! He just started running flattrack and that is where the thing is gone, everytime he shifts it will pull the wheels off the ground.

My banshee in my sig. smoked my cousins raptor, and he had a full GYTR exhaust, K&N filter stage 3 cam, bored out, and a few other motor mods.

Some people call the bigger web cams stage 3's and 4's, some builders included. And the aggressiveness of a cam doesnt have anything to do with bore size.

But I agree, I think the guy is mistaken or misinformed. You never know, his buddy could have fed him a line of crap.

It depends on what mods are on each quad but stock for stock a 450r will dust a raptor , i have raced a stock raptor and a raptor with a fmf pipe and jet kit and still won easily. That was when my quad was stock.

All I can say is, if you don't plan to race your bike you shouldn't have to worry if your bike beats any other bike, and im talking about the stock vs stock people who try to satisfy themselves with their stock quads

If you want to beat other bikes you have to do the mods.

This childish mentality really shows that they are under 18 whom by law shouldn't be riding quads or even racing for that matter imo.

There are only a handful of decent quads on the island, and most of them have been trying to get up to par or lacking a few parts.

There are 2 Banshee's with some mods.
Another Raptor 660 w/ the dual LTE (He hasn't changed his A/F or jets.)

There is a Raptor 350
There is a Raptor 80
There is a Honda 400R (The owner rode my bro's stock raptor and he is begging to buy it)

I try all the time to race people all the time, from Cars to Harleys and the last kill was a Golf GTI vr6.

The guys with the banshee's are close friends and we never tried racing them but I joke with them to see if they would try but not yet. Its not really inportant to them I guess as we don't have any competitions etc...

Even if they get additional mods they always come to me to order their parts, and belive me I always keep a few steps ahead of the rest
