450r's are normally loud because of the light metals they use for the cases

hey thanx mixmaster sounds like you know your way around the 450r there i could use some one like you here to work on my quad doin the jet and all .well here is a guestion for you mike if i added a slip on pipe with the air box lid on still but i didnt add my stage 2 jet kit yet is there any harm being done to my bike thanx again

yes, you will definately want to rejet to get power gains and be safe to not hurt your engine. I am currently running a HMF slip on with full airbox lid on (no cuts or anything with stock filter), and all I had to do was put a 128 main jet in. stock is 125 a ibelieve so all you have to do is barely richen it up. Just call C&D racing and order some jets. Now if you take that lid off you will want to go to a 175 or 180 main jet.

CT said that the motor is noisy. Like mike said, it is because everything is thin, and rattles a lot. It's not a problem though.
