Need atc250r engine help asap

I have a 250r fourwheeler and 3 wheeler. I have the atc bottom end on my 250r and anyways it runs but I cant engage the clucth. The rod that comes out of the left side case with the spring and lever is where the problem is I think. The clutch cable when hooked up will not have anypressure at all. Another thing is that the spring keeps popping off and allowing the rod to turn 360 deg. I talked to my buddy and he said that it might be a ballbearing gone bad or missing. What could this be.

sounds like you're a prime candidate for the 89 up-date kit, its about $60-$70
