Looks great .. I am tring to get all the right parts together so i can start moving old stuff to new frame... Too many little things. I don't want to be down not riding for weeks for a small thing..

the fmf silencer is huge wtf

Posted by: beak7707

Looks like a good start, good to see a 250r being put together and not taken apart!! Keep us updated on the build.

besides the enormas silencer that looks like a 3 wheeler exhaust shoehorned in there???

Posted by: SnowRacerX

Yeah the silencer is huge but it's the only one i could find that keeps the db level low enoufe to get into some local riding areas. The silencer dosen't look to bad with the plastic on. As for the head pipe it's a DG pipe for a 88 TRX250r, it fits great and sounds decent. I don't think i'm going to keep that pipe on but it works for now.

I just fired up the motor for the first time 10mins ago and she sounds mean!!!!! Started on the first kick after a complete rebuild.

It's a 1988 Motor
New Hot Rods Crank and Rod
Stock cylinder .20 over ported and polished.
Stock head slightly shaved
I did a compresion test tonight and it's about 178

What color plastic should i get??
I was thinking Ome Style black with a red hood and a red seat. Or just all red.

Posted by: Eddiesanders250

i have a suggestion. How about some plastics. jk Also i dislike the fmf pipe i would get a different one.

Posted by: zedicus00

DG actually makes a good pipe but i hav never seen one like that b4. if you want real oem fenders you will hafta go with red or white, with red white or blue hood.... if you want them any other color u will hafta get after market. i recomend lakers custom, or fullbores.

That is a big silencer, I kind of like it. I think that may be an old style DG 250r pipe. Don't quote me on that. Good looking R

man...Im w/ this guy haha

Looks good dude....keep it up

I have that same pipe....its not near as bad as ppl say it is. It went on the project R. its a pretty decent all around system, but nothing special in any area

My friend had that pipe on his r for the longest time. He switched over to the fmf and noticed a pretty big diff. in power. He now has an esr and it seems to be the best out of the 3. I had an fmf turbine core silencer on my r and had 0 probs at Silver Lake.

BTW, I'd vote for stock red or white plastic for your r.

Posted by: Cody_300ex

I would go for white plastic. That FMF its HUGE!!! You should also look into some shocks, maybe even stock 450rs. Very clean looking bike, good job.

Posted by: SnowRacerX

I think it might end up red or whatever i find a good deal on. I'm running low on cash. As for shocks those are stock 400ex shocks, nothing to brag about but they will work until i get some more $$.

I have bill's pipe for this. It's a 2 piece straight through design. It looks to be older and is painted red. Anyone know anything about these pipes?? I'll post up some pics of it later. And does anyone know where i could send it to get coated???

Posted by: zedicus00

from what i here, yur DG is prolly better then the bills pipe. and stock 450R shocks are a major improvement to the front end and go fairly cheep on ebay.

Posted by: SnowRacerX

i rather wait on the shocks until i can dish out enoufe money for the right shocks. As for the bills pipe, i know it sounds nice because i have had it on the bike and it adds a bit more low end. I haven't rode it yet with the DG i've only started it.
