i just bought a 250r motor i need to find out what year it is i have the rod# and the case # the rod# is ka4 case# tbo6e

there should be the year put on the side of the head

there should be a small tin looking plate under the tbo6e wth more numbers stamped on it they are the #'s that will determine the year of the cases also I think ka4 is the short rod (could be mistaken) which would make the crank from either 85 or 86

yup

depending if its original...85 was all black, 86 was grey

if it has the little bridge from the reed-flange to the waterjacket...its an 86, 85 didnt have it
