St. Anthony This Weekend April 2nd till whenever

Anyone else going out there? I have been checking weather.com for the 10 day forecast and it looks absolutely chitty. Rain and Snow. If there is anyone that lives out there that can give me a better idea of the current weather state I would appreciate it.

I realize there will be some snow and that the sand will be wet. That doesn't bother me. I am just worried it will rain or snow the whole week we will be there.

My aunt lives about half an hour from the dunes an it has bin raining,snowing an blowing all this week an i talk to her last night if that helps any i was going to go this weekend till i heard that.

this is a rough time of year to get good westher. It usually doesnt get decent until May.

Thats why we go in June!

I was trying to talk the group into going to little sahara instead. It is sunny and in the 60's and 70's right now. They won't listen. Oh, well.

It was a freakin blast out there. We just got back at 4:30 a.m. this morning. 20hrs straight through!

We had 8 riders. One broke his wrist, he had a steel plate put in with 7 screws. Another guy blew up his 310R on the last day. I took over 230 pics and we got some video. I can't wait to go back. I will post pics later.

Ther locals said they couldn't believe the conditions. The sand was like summer beach sand. It was awesome.

But seriously, I have only heard of one rider who didnt like St. A's(WTF???!!) It may not be as big as Glamins, the but quality of the riding is some of the best! Glad you had a good time, please post those pics ASAP!

Im sorry to hear about your freinds, How did the one guy brake himself up?? We grenaded a motor out there before so we know how that goes

He was cruising down a bowl on a quadzilla in like 4th gear and he hit a 8 foot drop that blended in. He flew like 30 feet.

One of the guys I was with has been to Glamis and he said St. Anthony is just as good.

Now I am depressed to ride at home. I can't believe how perfect everything is out there. Smooth Jumps and smooth landings on everything.

I saw a predator out there a few times. It was probably you. We had 8 guys. 3 450r's, a 400ex, a 440ex, a 310r, a raptor, and a quadzilla.

The sand was only wet on Tuesday because it rained all day Monday. Other than that the sand was dry. This was the most amazing trip I have ever been on and I have been to the caribbean a few times and Vegas. I would go to the sand any day over all of those places.

I am on the red 400ex. It kinda sucked that I was the only one with a camera. I only got a few of me and they all pretty much suck. lol

Yeah, it was a great time anyways and I can't wait to go back. The funniest thing to me was that everything was shut down on Sundays. We did manage to find beer though. A gas station in Rexburg sells on Sundays. It is called Horkleys. Just in case you need a few brews after a long day of riding on a Sunday.

Hey 450R#1 it was good to see you up there. I think we lost you when we ran back to camp to get the other guys. yeah we made it back to Choke Cherry on the last day. It was pretty cool, but there are bigger hills past choke cherry.

That would be devils dune that I think is steeper and longer than Choke but most will argue that it is not!!

Choke was really steep and hard to climb, but it did not live up to all the hype for me. i was expecting something way bigger. It was cool to see though. The only ones that made it in our group were a stock 450r with a 40tooth sprocket and a 310r.

Yeah, that sounds good. Although it will probably be another year until I get to go again. Another group of guys are talking about making a trip in august. If I can get the time from work i will probably go. Otherwise it wil be next year.

There are some pretty sweet ones on the back side of thunder mountain and then there are allot if you keep driving past thunder mountain on the face side. Stay on the outer edges and you will find allot of sweet jumps. It seemed that the bigger hills were in the middle.

i would like to go to St. Anthony's. Do you think that my 250r with a pipe, carb, reeds, filter, jet kit, and haulers would make it up choke cherry hill easily? Or the other big hills. Its to bad that i am oly fifteen and cant drive myself there yet or idbe there right now.

Choke Cherry aint that bad..I mean its steep and all, but it isnt too hard to make it to the top especially with a 250R..You would be fine..

When I was out there I bought a DVD from Pure Adrenaline in Rexburg. It is called the St. Anthony Sand Crusades. It is a bad *** Video. They show Norm's 910cc machine flying up Choke Cherry at 72mph. It is freakin unbelieveable.

I didnt think that the hills were that big. I n=knew that i would probably be fine and be able to make it up the hills. I just herd that they were really big and i also saw a video on dunereview where a 250R got stuck. Also how do you think my dads stock 400ex would do? Not to good i would guess.

In my opinion a stock 400ex MAY be able to make it to the top, but its unlikely..

I run a stock 400ex and I dropped a tooth on the front sprocket. It is also piped and I ran it with outerwears on the lid and stock jetting. It got me everywhere any other wheeler went except for the big hills like choke cherry and Devils dune. As far as the rest of the dunes a stock 400ex will do just fine. I was out there for 5 days of riding.

Your 250r should make it 2 strokers just seem to stay in the power curve much better . I had a 2004 raptor 660 ct ex proflow and I'm a big dude 270lb I would crawl out of Choke at 17 MPH but on a YFZ I was running around 28 mph . Thats why this year I'm riding a YFZ with HMF and ESR intake . Even if you cant climb out you will have the time of your life !
Theres nother more fun than busting over a razor back and running down a 300 foot dune all day long!

P.S. I'm one of the few luck people who have gotten to ride Norms Hotrod 910 . After racing all types of machines it's an incredible feeling to once again get the adrialine shakes from a power rush ! Unexplanable good feeling
