Stiff Thumb Throttle

The thumb throttle is really stiff on my 250X compared to my 400EX and all the other quads I have riden. Is there anything you can do to free it up?

How old is the cable? You can either lube that cable or buy a new one.For even easier push, try replacing the thumb piece with one from a TRX90.

The cable is only about a month old. It's a new one that came with my keihin carb.

Did you put something like WD-40 in it? if you didn't do that and it'll be alot better, other than that can't see what would cause it, unless it's something like the thumb throttle rubbing against something, check that too. cause when you put the new cable in you may have changed to a bad position.

I'm thinking that is just how it's gonna be. I put on a new keihin carb, and the cable came with the carb. However I think the resistance is coming from the spring in the carb itself.

Is it just me or is the stock 250ex throttle cable pretyty stiff. even when its new it doesn't even compare to my kfx's.
