Has anyone used one of these hoods, I am looking at the carboon fiber scoop type hood. It's just for looks mainly. Also how hard is it to swap the lights and stock hood out. Can you swap back and fourth for night riding?

yep its easy to take the lights on and off and I think the maier hood is one of the nicer looking hoods out there.
just my .02

i have 1, its easy to swap, very easy, only bad part is drilling into the plastic for the screws, thats about it, the mounting hardware is kinda crappy but hey they are cheap

yeah man the maier's hoods are great. i had to get one because someone ran into me and busted my headlights and stock hood. but you definitely can't beat maier's prices on their hoods for the quality. uninstallation of the headlight's is very easy and installation of the hood is also very easy.
here is one of mine

heck yeah i was pissed off when i heard my headlights shatter. i guess it may have been partly my fault, but the guy had plenty of time to see me, slow down, and go around. instead he ran straight into me. what happened was it was a mx race and i got second out of the holeshot. rounded the first turn and then the second going into the whoops. i had been hammering them all night and doing fine through them. i believe i may have been one of the faster ones through the whoops. anyway, i was 2/3 of the way through and my front end skipped real bad across top and one and it knocked my right hand off. well as you can imagine my rear kicked and got my weight over the bars and then the front dove into a whoop and caught my bumper(by the way the blingstar bumper is strong as hell!) and pretty much stopped me and just rolled over forward. i was getting up and about to flip my R back over and BAM, that guy just smashed into me. didn't do **** to his. but afterward i watched the video and he had plenty of time to miss me and see me, but he wasn't looking ahead. he was looking straight down.

Just get a sheet of carbon fiber looking number backing and cut it out to fit the hood.Looks even better on the flat maier hood than a 160$ quadtech.

mines black, its cheap, but the mounting hardwaer needs some work, the front is ok but on the rear i ened up just using a washer and nut not wellnuts.

mmm that maier smoothy looks wicked, how much are the smoothies?

IMO the maier hoods are Ugly, They just dont match the 450Rs Curvy styiling.
Posted by: jlhughes750
almost seems like the flat piece should be straigh on the frt. instead of pointed???
Posted by: CdaleXtreme
Yeah the point is my biggest beef with the maier hood. and the vent holes look like they were cut out with a Saws-all
:
But I do think the Mesh on that black hood looks good!

I think they look pretty decent when installed and have a numberplate on them.
