I have been using honda lube and its hard to clean off when the sand gets stuck to it. THANKS

i have always used wd-40. there will be a ton of people on here tell you that is bad for the o-rings but you should change the chain once a year. the wd-40 keeps the sand from sticking to the chain.

I also use WD-40 in the sand. I'd say the sand will do more damage than WD-40. If you're worried about WD-40 drying out the o-rings clean and relube with regular chain lube after the dune trip

so, if i'm running a non-o-ring chain wd40 would be best to use?
thanks

Seems like WD-40 would sling off the chain too easily. I use PJ1's chain lube. It's like $5.00 a can and is specifically designed for lubing chains. Once it's on, it thickens up and "sticks" to the chain. I've found that it will keep sand out of the links of the chain very well. No matter what, you're gonna need to clean the chain up after you ride in sand.

I use WD-40 and swear by it. It dosn't get all sticky like the other lubes. It has been fine for my chain. And make sure you clean after riding in the sand.

no chain oil works good in sand, all it does is attract the sand. use the oil you have and live with it. replace your chain frequently if you ride alot of sand. and wd-40 is the worse to use in sand, sand sticks to it like no other

i took my 400ex and my 50 to pismo 2 weeks ago and when i got back the chains look rusted. I think it was the salt water. Should i replace the chains or are they prolly ok.
