ok the only reason i can see as to why someone would want to chop fenders is looks and possible wind resistance? other than that the bike already flings a ton of stuff from the front wheels. with stock tires when riding on gravel i'm constantly getting pounded in the arms....why chop the fenders? doesn't stuff just fling even worse?

it is done for looks, wind resistance, open feeling in the quad, and so you can see your front tires and a-arms when your going through a tight trail or racing mx.

I did it mainly for MX, so I can get my fronts lined up on a good part of the jump lip. Also, MXing with full fenders has already broken off 3 mounting hooks where the side pannel's meets the front plastic.

ok that makes sense, but for the riding i would do it would just be plain not smart.

i did mine. i occasionally get a pebble in my arm, but hey, it is no big deal. i have been hit harder by my cat when she is pissed, and that isnt too hard (especially w/ no claws). I do like the fact that you can see the front end and that when i am 5th pinned, my front end doesn't drift all over the place.

I have a feeling i'm gonna get in a wreck from watching my front suspension instead of where i'm going....it's so cool looking

I went riding today, and because of the weather (you ohioans know what i'm talkin' about) it was crazy, mud everywhere! All in all, it wasn't too bad. The rears fling so much, that the only diff. with the fronts gone is wet sleeves from going through water-hole's fast. There was some deep water though...at one point one of the fenders went underwater for breif moment.

im thinking about doin this to my quad but i need to know what to cut it with and how to cut it evenly without makin one bigger then the other.. i figured i could draw a line with a marker but i still dont know what to use to cut it to make it smooth...

i taped mine off with electric tape and used a coping saw to cut them. make sure there the same with a tape measure. i sanded it smooth and used some kind of buffing pad to buff the sides out

MAN YOU GUY MAKE IT HARD ON YOURSELVES.......I USED TIN SNIPS (MARKED IT OFF FIRST) I WAS DONE WITH BOTH SIDES IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES. THEN I SANDED IT SMOOTH. THE WHOLE PROCESS TOOK LESS THAN 15 MINUTES FOR IT TO LOOK PERFECT

Alot of people make this alot more complicated the ti really is.
I finally got the balls to do it and it took me 15 mins and it looks so nice. I used electrical tape and made teh line then i cut it with a hack saw. cut about 1/4 of an inch out side of your real line. Then use a file and sandpaper to get rid of the bumps and the rest of the plastic.
Just do it.

if I were you I would cut those nipples off the fenders too
