Im soon about to finish my first tank of gas in my new 05' 400ex. Just wondering what you all recommend to get as far as oil viscosity/brand/filter. Ill be going to a Honda place so help me out hehe. Its cold here so I guess i need oil for the colder weather.

honda gn4 hasnt let me down yet. i just use cheap replaceable oil filters that they sell at the dealer

the kawasaki filters are 10 bucks a piece you can take the part number and buy a fram one for like 3 bucks and its the same thing on oil i use silkolene it is the best fully synthetic oil out the it isnt that cheap but you dont have to change it as often and it gives you more hp and torque

im assuming 400 ex so that would be 10w 40 and i jsut use castrol GTX from auto zone

Run non synthetic of your choice for a while, then switch over to synthetic wet clutch oil later on. I personally like Klotz.

Exactly how does OIL do that

qhats the difference between 0w40 and 10w40? i thought the 400ex were suposed to run 10w40

I may be mistaken, but I think there is no real difference between the 2. I believe the viscosities are the same.

I think this because Polaris makes oil they call 0w-40 and its the same thing as 10w-40.

And you're right-- the 400ex is supposed to run on 10w-40 because it is the correct viscosity for the engine.
