it fit perfect, (width wise) it connected to the plastic by pop-rivets. just a little bit of shavin on the plastice with a dremmel tool b/c u could see some thru the hood. i took some light aluminum to go around the gas tank, molded it around to fit- riveted the aluminum to the hood. bought some screen to go under the hood and spray painted it a glossy black so it won't rust.

i love how it came out, there isn't a whole lot you can do to make a 300 look different.

How hard was it to put the 300ex motor in the 250r chassis?

It wasn't that hard. All we did was lower the motor to line the sprokets up, made custom mounts, remade the silencer, and changed the air flow system so it will fit without restricting air.

I know this is for 300EX's, but I hope you don't mind me posting my 250X here. I've had it about a year and a half and it's a work in progress.

Before anyone says anything....

The rusty steel nerf bars are on their way out.
The tires are on their way too with new Kendas coming in about a week.
The stock exhaust will be replaced when I have the money.

What I have done so far...
New Maier dark blue plastic
Armadillo Front bumper
Armadillo swingarm skid plate
DG Alloy grab bar
A pair of generic round lights mounted in front bumper
Factory 909 bars
Motion Pro twist throttle
Ceet Contra graphics kit
Renthal grips
300EX foot pegs
Uni air filter

Future plans
White Brothers or FMF exhaust (can't decide)
New Kenda Klaws all around (on their way)
Alloy nerf bars (can't decide)
Paint frame
250R front suspension when my buddy gets his new a-arms
+2/+4 rear axel
New chain and sprockets

Ok, most of these mods sound pretty good. Although, I gotta tell ya, don't bother messing with a White Bros. or FMF exhaust, they're a waste of money. Save up some money and get a Sparks X-4, best pipe they make for a 250X/300EX.

Also, don't waste the time with the 250R a-arms. If you want some decent low priced a-arms, Armadillo makes some pretty cheap ones. Also, Burgard makes a good set at a good price. And then you could get a set of Works shocks. That would be your best bet for front suspension. If you still think that using a 250R a-arm(which is pretty close to a 400EX a-arm) is a good idea, then pm roostin_dale. He tried using the 400EX arms, but switched to the 300EX +3 arms.

Sparks X-4 eh? I've heard of them, but never looked at them. Thanks for the info.
As far as the 250R A-arms go I wouldn't even bother with changing them if it wasn't for the fact my friend said he would just about give them to me along with his stock shocks (he has works). I don't race, but I like to add to it here and there when I have the extra cash. The motor is strong. It doesn't burn oil, starts just about on the first kick every time so I am leaving it alone until I have to. I pretty much ride trails.

250r/400ex a arms on the 300ex are a BAD idea even for free. Many members have tried the setup and found that it does NOT work well at all. There are several threads per week on this.

heres my 02 300EX. I wanna get aftermarket a-arms, but im afraid im gonna have to resort to 400EX/250R a-arms and 3+2 offset rims. B/c i cant affor aftermarkets and i cant win on ebay b/c its so tuff, besides theres never ne ones on there ne way. Should i just keep my spacers until i can afford an axle and arms. I dont have to worry about bending an axle, my friend raced his 300EX for 2 yrs. with spacers and it took like 25 foot doubles to bend it. And it barely bent it.

I'm running Laegers +2 a-arms and Laegers +2 swingarm on it.List of other parts on it is: Edelbrock carb,AC front bumper,wide grab bar and nerfs,Sparks 330 motor,cr high pro taper handlebars with 3/4 risers,prm skidplates,elka triple rate fronts,01 raptor rear shock,roll design pegs with kick-ups,hiper 9 inch wheels and maxxis i-razr rears.It has holeshot xc fronts on it for now,but will have razr 2 fronts soon.I'll take some pics with different angles tomorrow.

Lil braff,very nice 300 and congrats on the win at Haspin! I've rode there a few times and that place is very rough on the quad and the rider.

Recon master do u ever wash you quad. Cleaning is maintance expecialy if your doing mx, also not washing causes bearings seals and bushings to wear alot faster.

thats what happend to my 250R man i washed it but not well enough because my wheels were rusted shut after a month of not ridin so i got a 300ex and i wash it after every ride . Make sure u get in the places that move and twist because if not the will shut up and not work.

I have no idea why everyone says that the 400EX a-arms are bad on the 300EX. I've had mine on my quad now for 3- 4 years and I haven't had any problems at all.

i had to put some washers in the spindle where the sproket hooks up cuz the alignment wasnt right; i put 2 normal washers(whatever size fits the bolt). if you want it to look good, get a spacer made that goes around the entire thing, i just went the cheap way. then i had to sand off the little ends that stick out of the top of the shock and it fit right in. its not that hard once you figure out what your doing.

woh dude you act like your in a competition or something. It dosent really matter, but when its all said and done neither of us can be passed 50 inches. I was told the travel of mine but i forgot what the exact number was. I do know one thing, I'm pretty sure got the most for my money, Im not going to post what I exactly paid for mine but mine only retail for 525 so go figure.

I'm dropping off the camera today to get the pics developed, i hope they come out alright. I think a friend of mine might come by in the next day or two though and snaps some pics with a digicam. I'm pretty pleased with it now. I just need to finish up the design for my graphics, and send it to the guy who's printing em up for me. I've seen some of his other graphics kits, not too bad, kinda pricey though. But if you get everything done the way you want it on your comp and send it to him, so that he doesn't have to do any real work getting them ready, he'll print about your graphics kit for you for a decent price. i got gull-wing roll design lt a arms on my 300, now thats travel! Ill get pics as soon as the builds done, its gonna be sick.

11.96 inches, I have a tad over 600 dollars into my front end so I think I came out hella good. Got a Axis rear on the way too!

Haha, actually i had the guy send me some better pics and it was a 45 degree fitting. Still for 175 Bucks you cannot beat that. Im going to have it revalved this winter so if the line is f'ed up i can replace it then.

yeah i want to cut mine because they are all scratched from the preveis owner. What did you do about the saftey charts. The box around them is limiting my cutting aren so that i can make them even. Did you just leave part there.
