I ride in alot of dusty areas and dunes in the summer, ocassional mud/water, and in the winter alot on the ice-slush. with a k&n with outerwear i am a bit concerned with pulling my airbox snorkel off and removing my airbox lid...How dangerous is this.?

Get rid of that K&N and put a UNI on it,then go ride...

I agree the K&N will let in to much dirt.I also would recommend a foam type filter like Uni or Twinair.

I don't feel that it is necessary or helpful to take your snorkle off.

wait, if u put a pre-filter on a k&n or on the airbox, wouldent it not let any dust or dirt in?
Posted by: Jonas
no, prefilters only will filter larger grains of dirt.

look, if you regularly clean and properly oil your k&n filter you shouldnt have any problems. i used to run without an airbox lid to, but because of jetting issues i put it back on. during the time it was off i didnt notice a spec of dirt/sand/dust/nothin in my carburetor or intake tube.
