will it work and how much longer does it make the bike

I think most conversions also use the 350X rear shock.

I've never personally done it, but I think you need a couple spacers (washers) on each side, and their not even. If memory serves, you need to space one side more than the other for the sprockets to line up exactly. I makes it 1 1/4 inches longer, and if you're using the 350X axle, it's also 2 inches wider.

Wilkin is exactly right.

your exactly right and you do need to use the 350x swingarm

I need to get my hands on a 350X rear end to finally get this conversion done. I've done all the research, I've got all the knowledge, I just need the #%&* parts to implement it.

ya same here

I'll add a little more to it. All 350x swingarms are not the same. It has slipped my mind wich years it is, I think the later years, but some of the swingarms were factory gusseted and are stronger. The rear 350x shock is also completely adjustable with a rezzie.

The 350x was only made for 2 years 1985 and 1986. They where both the same. I think your thinking of a 200x.

I could be wrong, in fact I was one other time in my life....lol
I am all but sure I have seen one on a X trike that was supposed to be original and it had some metal gussets in the corners that mine does not. I guess it could have been a very good custom job, but the paint looked original, even all scratched up with some rust.

Hmmm, I've never noticed that on any but I could be wrong too.

both years are exactly the same

the 86 swinger used a different rear brake attachment and it was gusseted. the 85 mounted like the 85 atc250r and the 86 mounted like the 86-89 250r's. also carriers for 85 350x swingers are different. The bolts that are used to mount the sprocket are different with 86 models.

Posted by: Jeff@TireBalls

I'm getting the exact same part numbers for the 85 and 86 on my microfiche on all rearend parts.

Posted by: deathman53

It may be, but they are different. the part numbers for 85 and 86 atc 250r foot peg plates show the same part number too, but they aren't. I know this because I have 86 pegs that came off bikes and I bought new ones and the 86 pegs didn't fit. I was just looking at part diagrams and the parts they show for a 86 350x look nothing like the ones on my 86 350x.
The 86 350x uses a caliper mount like a 86-89 250r and the 85 has a threaded stud sticking out of the swingarm where a "torsion link" attaches that holds the caliper in place. The 86 doesn't have any such "torsion link". Its very confusing, I'll try to get some pics to show the differences. Maybe honda is superceding the numbers as to what is currently available???? When I get my service manual hopefully it will show the differences. Also looking at part diagrams, it doesn't show the different bracket for the cluth cable on a 85 and 86 350x, the 85 ran between the header pipes and the 86 ran behind the cylinder and had a different bracket, not shown either.

I did a little searching the lest few days, and it seems as mentioned above, the brake mounting is slightly different on the 85 vs 86. But have yet to find a good close picture of the 86 swingarm to prove or disprove.

I must have an 85 then. My swinger has the threaded stud sticking out the brake side. My swinger is also not gusseted.

I'm gonna send mine out to get rebuilt, so I guess I'll find out.

Posted by: hardkoratvmxr

They have remote rezzies stock, and are fully adjustable.
