Should I polish my subframe or get it chromed? If I polished it, it'd be alot cheaper. But how would it hold up? I heard that clear coating it would help, but aren't polished parts hard to keep looking good?

yeah since its steal it won't look that good and its not going to look good very long even with the clear coat. i would just go with chrome cause its going to look better longer, plus it will be really shiny.

If you got the money, chrome it. Holds up wayyyy longer and looks better. But if you don't have a lot of money poilsh it.

ok...pics posted now here is my take on this...
1) getting the sub chromed will run about $130
2) getting it polished by a professional will run $75 to $150
3) one good wreck and there is the $75 to $150 plus the $200 sub frame TRASHED
now, if you can handle the fact that the part you just dumped some cash on could possible end up in the corner of the garage as a real purty pile of junk then go for it.
i chose chrome because it doesnt need the attention a polished part does. you can have a polished subframe clear powdercoated or have a body shop laquer it to seal the finish. you could also spend some coin and use Zoop Seal but its pricey also.

Thanks for the pics Pappy. I'll probably just polish it and spray it with a clear powdercoat. Either chrome or polish, neithers gonna hold up too good.

i didn't know that the 450r's subframe was aluminum. that being the case i would just polish it and spray it cause it would be cheaper i would think. especially if you could do it yourself.
